Sir Landon Of Donovan

I don't believe Donovan will ever leave LA. I think the best we could hope for is continued loans for up to 10 weeks which at this juncture I would be very happy with. Wonder if Keano needs a loan home also.

Beckham said this morning that the club were due to set on a promotional trip ( Australia ?), then he'd determine his own future at Galaxy. I'd like to think Landon will do a very similar thing when returns too. Asses his fitness, take some time out over Christmas and then gear himself for the huge disappointment that is the Everton Football Club management as they'll no doubt some how manage to screw up the only viable loan deal this window.

Knowing Dave and his current state of mind, he'll get Landon in on loan, bench him and then play him with 9 minutes left on the clock, whilst we are 2-0 down at home :(

Nope after Saturday's lacklustre performance Moyesy came out with we are lacking flair speech to the press. Donovan auomatically brings that to the table and the odd goal or two also. Moyes seems to crying out for help and I sure Timmie has to put his best PR hat on to convince Lando to brave the chilling winter rains on Merseyside instead of the sunny climate of LA.

Good lord this is a terrible site (no offense to you Pblueman).

1. Bruce Arena wanting Landon fresh? If it were up to Bruce he'd wrap LD in bubble wrap and tell him to just roll around for three months.
2. USMNT players going to English clubs? England must mean Germany. Oh yeah, there's that Shea to Arsenal thing. And Hamid to West Ham. Then there's the 1,072 MLS players in Germany right now.

Yikes. Bad reporting.

They are going to Southeast Asia and Australia in the beginning of December. (And Landon will play a total of 45 half-assed minutes I'm sure). The loan discussions should be going on by then one would hope.

But more importantly, Becks mentioned in the same interview that he might be sticking around. If Beckham sticks around it increases the chance for Landon to go out for longer. Then again, CONCACAF Champions League starts 3/7.

I caught that MLS final last night. On that showing...Donovan would struggle to dislodge Coleman from a wing berth. First half he was out wide and was pretty anonymous; second half he cuts it as more of an out and out striker. Whether he'd be up to playing against our defenders over here is another matter. Intelligent player though and he'd give a psychological boost if we landed him. Keane looked very good. Best I've seen him play for ages. Agree with Neiler on this, I'd like Moyes to offer him a contract. He's never a lone forward anymore, but if we could get him playing off one for us we could be in business. Beckham - still good delivery, but he looks his age now (that rugby tackle second half! And he should have been off the pitch for two yelows well before then).

Good lord this is a terrible site (no offense to you Pblueman). None taken pal, i know the site is terrible but everynow and then they have it right! on a side note i also saw a possible loan for Roman Pavulochenko from tottenham? good for me that one!

Disagree with this, as does Zonal Marking:

However, there were some interesting features. The man most obviously trying to break the rigidity of the systems was Donovan, who typically came in from the right to a central playmaking role, as he did well during the World Cup. He was trying to add extra creativity in that zone, because the partnership between Cristman and Keane didn’t quite work – Keane generally made runs in behind and Cristman dropped deeper, but they rarely combined.

Remember his supporting cast in the MLS Cup. Everton gives him an automatic upgrade.

Also - he is more flexible than Coleman. Landon has played CAM, 2nd Striker, LM and RM. He's also got more experience than Seamus.

This could mean more experimentation with Seamus at RB.

Or Donaman as a lone striker.

And that is the lone position that he SUCKS at. Way way way too small and HATES to have his back to goal.

Please god no.

Could it potentially mean a 4-4-2 though?????????

Saha
LD
Drenthe - Fellaini - Osman - Coleman
Baines - Jags - Distin - Hibbert

EDIT: The speed on that formation is disgustingly good and would look MILES different than anything we've done recently.
