Well considering that it WAS locked before someone started another Landon thread, I reopened it and merged the threads.

No, I think I'll let it roll for awhile as the minute I close it, another will start. Just keep it in here and stay on topic. If the admins or other mods decide to lock it, so be it. But I won't be locking it anytime soon.

Thanks TX Bill. For what it's worth, there is still rumors being reported. Case in point, Steve Davis at Sports Illustrated below. Also, I appreciate being able to speak about him with other people that care (which is why I suggested moving to the World Football thread, but doesn't matter to me):

Landon Donovan: As long as Donovan can kick a ball, he'll make news. He is well-established as the face of American soccer, and nothing that happens in 2011 will change that. For better or worse, he's also one of the few figures in U.S. soccer who can make news in the gossip columns, as his divorce filings to actress Bianca Kajlich did just last week. Oh, and have you seen this month's Outside magazine? Guess who is the cover boy? On the field, expect the year to begin with further reports of a new loan deal, even if Donovan has downplayed the notion lately. Whether he gets that needed winter rest or does something else, you'll certainly hear about it.

"Downplayed" bewilders me as I thought his press release was pretty much a "nope I'm not going", but hey, hope I'm wrong!

EDIT: Points RT @good_tony: @landondonovan besides you, what do you think is on evertons wish list in january?

I know this thead is as long as it is wide, but bear in mind Landon has OPENLY said to anyone who will listen, he wants to play for us, and that - is all you need to know.

Imagine Arteta ( his equivilant in the LA Galaxy maybe? nee, Beckham ) coming out and saying that???

The West Ham match was a great illustration of why LD would be a big help for us. Coleman was doing a great job being aggressive and running at people and trying to beat them with pace down the side. But he has no meaningful attacking help from behind (Neville). LD in Coleman's spot with Coleman sliding back to Neville's spot would create a dynamic attack on the right side. Coleman's experience is as a RB, and he seems set up to become a right-footed Baines once he gains more experience.
