Sir Landon Of Donovan

THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^. I have dealt with my disappointment. I am grateful for FOD bringing me to Everton. Now, until he wears toffee blue or a U.S. kit again, he is irrelevant to me. Pains me to say that, but my focus is on my Everton, and SV Heiligenmoschel, my village club. MLS might as well play on Mars for all I am concerned. Close Thread.

Apparently he is in the running for Awesomest Dude of the year but isn't happy because he's behind John Cena. : http://apps.facebook.com/fanappz/poll/vote?id=19479

That'll learn him for turning us down hah.

My feelings exactly John

I'm mystified why so many people are upset about this feller not returning. I doubt I'm alone either.

Personally, it's more to do with what he represents; pace and direct, positive play.

That said, I thought Coleman was outstanding on tuesday. He's adapting to the RM role better and better every week. Maybe we don't need to fork out £6-8 million to solve the right sided problems, after all.

Agreed. That can wait until the summer if we really do only have money for a loan deal. That has to be earmarked for a forward.

No one thinks he's the second coming guys - we're not comparing him to Messi. But again, for a lot of us he's our #1 player in our nation, and he happened to have a chance to play for our favorite team, so we still bring news to this thread in the hopes that something will happen this year (now or in the summer). Particularly since the dude tweets about our team every other day. When the transfer season is officially over both now and in the summer I guarantee this thread will go dead. But in the meantime, why rain on our parade?

(Oh, and btw, he was raised originally as a striker, played forward for years, so he could play that position if needed. Don't think he's the answer to our woes in that position, but he's played striker far more often than Tim. Oh, and though I think Coleman is much better, he's not LD yet - to me he's still a right back playing - quite well - out of position.)

News still happens, and things can change. I come here hoping that something will change too.

So in that light, I bring news:
The David Beckham going on loan news is gaining momentum. I'm starting to think this is going to happen. News came today that he is in "discussions" with LA, and that the Spurs are interested in him as well. Becks gets his wish, he's Becks - so I fully anticipate he will be gone for 8 weeks.

The question is what impact this has on LD, if any. He was told he couldn't go due to TV rights and that he and Beckham had to stay. Well, off goes Becks.

There are several things I could see happening in relation to this:
1) LD has told MLS, no loan now = me cheaper in the summer for purchase. It's my last chance to go, give it to me.
2) LD says, screw you MLS, I'm going on loan, and recants.
3) Everton hears this news and actually picks up the phone and says "so MLS, you said no loan because your stars were to stay. Last I checked, DB is going somewhere, so the offer still open for LD?"
4) Nothing.

#4 is still the most likely, but #1, #2 and #3 must be floating around somewhere if someone had two brain cells to rub together.

:)

I do think he would have a positive effect around our overall play, however I have moved on. Best of luck to him, very professional, very courteous, very self demeaning. I hope the last 5 years of his career bring him what he needs to be remembered long term.

Once a blue....
