Sir Landon Of Donovan

Ok so we're all a bit gutted about him not coming. I've given it some thought and realised this:

It's his loss, not ours.

He has missed out on the chance to be a real player in a real league. No matter how the mls proceeds it's beards away from here.
We will move on, loan in someone else, who may even turn out better than he was.
At his age I'm not sure he will get many more chances to show what he's got.

Basically I'm over it.

As my main man LCAB is out at the moment he asked me to put this on here !

Before I do he asked me to check his Ladies... So hi to Cali, Rafuh and Nelly ! Also to everyone else in the States I haven't mentioned !!

Landon has had a bit of a bagging since his refusal to come here on loan in January, so I have an update from S; with a bit of clarification in what has happened.

Apparently, Landon was open to a move before LA Galaxy became less keen. Landon felt as though he needed a break but wanted to cut it short to come over here. LA relaxed their stance and Landon more or less agreed to come which meant our gaffer could concentrate his efforts on Strikers with our wide player sorted.

Now here is where it changes, the MLS are currently re-negotiating their TV Rights and didn't really want Landon leaving when they are about to begin Marketing their product to the TV companies. Also as David Beckham has it written into his contract that he can go out on loan , the MLS did not want to lose 2 of their Major Stars at what they see as a crucial time in the marketing stage !

It still looked at one stage though as Landon would still make the move but obviously, someone has advised him to reject the loan. What we don't know is whether David Moyes will re-consider Landon in the future as he does not like to be messed around and having received some positive feedback from Landon only a week ago then we'll have to wait and see.

Update over...

Finally, some sense.

Thanks for the update....now I think I'm even sicker about this.

I had told myself I was going to stay away for a few days until I felt better...then I saw twitter this morning.

I sometimes wish LD weren't so loyal...I think he thinks he owes MLS for "rescuing" him from Germany many years ago, as they did break their rules on bringing in loan players and he was on loan from Bayer Leverkusen. But Landon, you've paid them back and then some. Follow your heart!!

And to read that Beckham might still get to go on loan....and not Landon.....don't even get me started! I'm a Galaxy fan, but right now I hate the Galaxy, MLS, Bruce Arena. And I'll pray every night that God touches David Moyes' heart and he forgives Landon for bowing to the pressure and somehow, someway this move happens before the year is out.

Landon's making it hard to stay mad at him...

I've lived in the States my whole life - recently became an Everton fan, a club I've grown quite fond of by the way, and I can honestly say that Landon is quite the marketing tool, especially here in the States where soccer is about as popular as infomercials.

It's all about name recognition over here - never mind skill or talent - you can ask random people off the street and most will know who Lindsey Lohan is before they can name who the Vice President of the US is.

When asking among my friends, who know practically nothing about soccer, they know who Landon Donovan is and to TV networks, that's all they care about. If people can identify with a star player and that player is heavily marketed, then it equates to network ratings for each of their televised matches which equates directly into $$$$'s.

That's all that matters. The league cares not about the wants or desires of the players it has shackled to unyielding contractual obligations.
