Sir Landon Of Donovan

I admit I'm torn on this. Kobe Bryant has played nearly entire seasons with broken fingers. Brett Favre is beaten down 6 ways to Sunday and he still gets out there and plays. Ben Roethlisberger got his nose BROKEN in the first offensive series of a game and has played every minute since (and his foot is broken as well). I get that Landon's tired, but come on, man! If he wanted it badly enough he would tough it out. Man up. Suck it up.

Sorry if my sports references are American.

All it says to me, is that he lacks ambition; he's happy being a big fish in a small pond.

He thinks he's proven himself sufficiently by doing well in a 12 week spell, which is ludicrous. He proved to us that he could hack it, and hence the excitement at the prospect of signing him, but most professionals would get a taste, and want nothing but to come back and achieve more.

In fact, if a pro footballer is lacking in ambition; turning down the opportunity to play in the best league in the world, then I'm not sure I'd want them here anyway. Take Cahill as an example. He moved away from home, very young, to the other side of the world to pursue his ambition. He jumped at the chance to sign for us, and has given his all for the subsequent 6 years. That is the drive, effort and ambition we want.

Landon's not shown any of that with this recent u-turn. He's tired, is he? Cahill, Pienaar, Howard... these are players that play through the pain, and give it their all, because they are professional sportsmen; proper athletes with proper drive. Enjoy your "what could have been...", big fish in a small pond career in the sun Landon. You're letting everyone down though -- yourself included.

I like some of the people turning on him because he wants a break. The guy has played for two years straight, he's allowed to chill out a little.

We're not turning on him so much as he's turned his back on us, mate.

LCAB and THT have said it, therefore it is a fact. A sad, depressing and painful fact.

Brett Favre and Ben Roethlisberger also belong to a Union that is actively campaigning against adding 2 games to the regular season to protect the players. Plus, there is no such thing as International American Football tournaments (the title of the event alone doesn't even make sense). It also should be noted that those 6 ways to Sunday beatings have caused Favre to miss a game this season (plus the majority of last game and probably the next 2 games as well) and those 6 ways to Sunday beatings Roethlisberger gives college co-eds in bars have caused him to miss 4 games this season.

Kobe Bryant has played all 82 regular season games exactly 3 times out of his 14 professional seasons and has not played internationally since the 2008 Olympics (he's committed to the 2012 games as well, but did not play in the Turkey this year).

These guys get out there and play for their club (just like Donovan). And Byrant even laces em up for Team USA every now and then (just like Donovan). And all 3 of your examples take extended time off to be ready to return their respective clubs (just like Donovan is doing).

I'm quite glad that this whole saga is over, we are all well aware of the budget constraints on Everton and now we have had our silly season chasing Big name signings that never end up coming, it's time for us to focus. Moyes is brilliant unearthing talent that can take a step up with a proper talented environment and with the right training become proper stars.

Our best signings have come from shopping players that have talent but haven't had a big team to play for. Let the Money bag clubs spend 30 Mill on a player, let them make big losses in short amounts of time. Do remember that Everton will survive and continue to be a big club in the PL and when the money dries up we won't be doing a Portsmouth.

Give me a Baines, Arteta, Pienaar, Cahill or even a buy like Lescott was anyday.

OK ; Update time ...

NOT FOR THOSE Pro-Landy , ... Cali' / Nelly / Rafuh , etc , I may as well post this , ladies . Don't see the point in a PM,..

The players you mentioned....didn't do all that while ON LOAN.

So be it if Moyes is mad at Landon and it's over....but come on, Davey... you should have made it permanent when you had the chance. He would have run his legs off and played his heart out for you, if you had just bought him and made him a permanent member of the family. Landon is looking out for Landon...and Moyes is looking out for Moyes. And never the twain shall meet.

I love how we're supposed to expect him to put our football club over his personal life and the possible reconciliation of his marriage. The nerve of that guy!

I'd love to have him back, and I hope he and Moyesie kiss and make up but it's done and dusted and we have other things to worry about.
