Sir Landon Of Donovan

Just when I was about to post about how weird it was that he hadn't tweeted (twittered?) anything:

And,

Well, he'll be another year older/slower, and we'll have moved on. Why do I get the feeling that this was his best opportunity? And what's the deal with this interview? What hasn't been said that warrants a sitdown? I mean... so he isn't coming for a loan--big deal. We care, of course, but it's not, like, this huge deal. Does anyone else think it's a little strange?

Last night it was disappointment. Like breaking up with me bird.

Today reading that it's less disappointment.

HE LOVES US.

That makes me feel better. Its like knowing me bird's stuck the other side of the world... but she's thinking of me.... and wants to come home

I hadn't been getting my hopes up either, so i'll shrug it off. Sad though, but then again, the positive is we might now have room to bring in someone else who is awesome in january.

I like the mention of Chris Eagles, he's a real out-and-out-winger type. And another Man U. reject, he won't get promoted with Burnley this year anyway, might be hungry to play real PL football.
And while we talk americans: How about Jozy Altidore? Sick pace on the kid, had a good world cup too!
Americans, 2: Oguchi Onyewu, surplus to requirements at AC Milan, real athletic, young centre back who could probably double at rightback? Also played a decent lot at the WC.
Pablo Piatti: Previously rumoured, argentinian wonderkid winger/striker. Yes please.
Struggling/cheap Premier League strikers: Carew, Santa Cruz, Bendtner, Elmander, Doyle, etc?
Previously rumoured, interesting targets: Jarvis, Djalo, Chucho Rodriguez, Alessandro Matri, Kranjcar, etc.

I dunno. Time to close this thread and spend our attention on somebody else.

I've been beating this drum for a few months mate. £2M for a 25 yar old with sell on potential or stupid money for a loan spell of Landon Donovan?

No brainer for me.

No doubt Davek. Sometimes the sentimental choice and the practical choice are never one in the same. I think we have a steep hill to climb in the transfer market, and hope we make some solid choices.

The guy who couldn't even get a game for Burnley?

Only posting cos this thread is massive.hehe.

Gutted he not coming but on the plus side ive been told i look like him so put me on the right wing.

He's been injured I think. Played almost a hundred games for Burnley since joining them two years ago and scored 14 goals.

I notice on his wiki profile it says we're in for him with a £2M bid plus James Vaughan. (And no, it wasn't me!!)

Go get 'im Moyesie.

The same weekend he decides to forgo his beloved EPL team, he shows up in a luxury box at an NFL game. Maybe that was just the tip of the iceberg and Gulati/Arena took a page out of the "How to Get What You Want" handbook (written by Qataris and Russians) and plied him with gifts. Haha. Just kidding (kinda).

Worked for Lescott and Timmy...There is quality in there..

No doubt, mate.

Most of our best performers have been plucked from weaker leagues, at subsequently low prices, and that's been one of the touchstones of Moyes' tenure. I've no problem with it at all. In fact when it works, it's a lot better than forking out the inflated prices you pay for premier league players.
