It's sad that if he stays in MLS he wouldn't face this. Or if he hadn't scored three great goals at the world cup. No promotion to the bigs, no news. It's holding his career hostage. Good times.

Update: So ...there's a Beckham-style sex scandal on the horizon for him? But,--we were through this before and [a] he took it all in stride, and it really didn't register on the public scale. I mean, there were some articles and such but it died down pretty quickly and didn't really do much damage rep-wise. Soccer is a 3rd tier sport in the US, loads don't know who the man is even now, post WC.
The marriage as I understand it, is over and has been for quite some time, she wasn't even fazed by the whole baby scandal 1.0.
Most importantly, why would anything like that affect his decision to play on loan? Other footballers go through wicked scandals and play on. I don't get it.

In the other thread LCAB actually said there might be a possibility of us signing BOTH (Becks on loan). *gasp*! So I wouldn't consider this dead in the water yet. That article has basically flooded the net, but in many other versions of the article LD is mentioned as an addition to DB.
There are other factors at play for LD (read up in the thread) - much to my dismay. BUT, LCAB has told us to keep the faith, so until I hear a no, I'm going to keep going with "He's coming."

You are not alone LCAB. God, this makes me want to vomit. I'm sure he's already dealing with this himself and the repercussions. And this is such a non-story it already ran in the US - with quotes from his separated-in-2009 ex. That appears to be a close friend still. Where's the scandal? (don't answer, rhetorical question) He gets to be lumped in with the other dudes, and Becks...
Irony of ironies that the British media might stymie the best American's move to the EPL. The press that wants nothing to do with US players usually.
It will be very interesting to see the US press' reaction to this. The British media has been receiving negative vibes due to the 2018 World Cup already...and again, 98% of people here *want* him at Everton. The stories will run, but the tenor will be different.
Our reaction here will be, go, deal with the British press, learn, help pull Everton to the top 7, score some goals, show up for the Gold Cup and we'll forget this ever happened, your personal life is your own. See you in 2014 or earlier for the Confederations Cup.
But we all know if he's uncomfortable, he doesn't play well, and it's easier for him to bunker in LA.
