Sir Landon Of Donovan

This factor of L.D having a six week rest is the best news I've heard in a long long time with regards to Landon's move to Everton. If you put it into perspective, his over whelming professional hunger for the game itself coupled with the knowledge that he knows of the near Heroic status he has garnered on Merseyside and the ground swell of expectation - he is going to be like Speedy Gonzalez on crack when he slips on his footie boots for the first time and kicks a football on his first day at Finch Farm !

Six weeks of lazing about walking his dogs and hanging out on Venice Beach, then kicking back with a few cold ones whilst watching Fox Soccer Channel as Everton grind out a win against Manchester City at Stupid O'clock local time. Yes, he's gonna be bored after two weeks - but once he starts getting withdrawals and starts shaking like a crack head in Kirkdale..Landon is going to be running Forrest Gump style to the East coast and throwing himself Michael Phelps styleee into the Atlantic to get here!

I think the anticipation of the impending arrival of L.D is cause for much excitement on here is broken down into two parts. Firstly, I cannot recall a player in the modern era ( Premiership years ) who has expressed such a desire to pull out all the stops publicly, if need be, to join our club. With maybe the exception of maybe, David Nugent. But more often than not, you get a 'vibe' when a player is plying his trade on a purely mercenary angle. Just looking down the M62 at Eastlands exemplifies that! Your don't appear to get that with Landon.

So, it's not for the money. He's not expressed himself as a 'childhood blue' whose dream it's always been to pull on the Royal blue - until the next club he joins with the same spiel ( I'm looking at you Robbie Keane !!).

We've seen what he can do and there's no hidden agenda, no ranting about wanting to win Premier titles or Champions League medals the minute he arrives in England. He knows Everton's status right now and what we can achieve in the short term. He's a realist and he just wants to play! That's why I want to see him in the number 9 shirt - cos a commodity like his in this day and age is a very rare and valuable one .

You're on a roll.

Keep it up.

Landon is prepping his prime time worldwide ESPN special where he announces his next move.

"... I'm going to take my talents to Goodison."

Made me laugh. If the non-yanks do not get this reference look up " The Decision " by Lebron James and look at how he was lambasted in the states.... funny stuff.

That's pretty funny. I was actually thinking the same thing when I read the article that was posted today. We're practically getting hourly updates.

Great chance for Landon to show the US sports world how to do this with class (unlike how LeBron did it). Can't wait to see him in blue again...

An even better youtube clip to look up is this one. Brilliant.

"CLEVELAND RESPONDS TO LEBRON JAMES WHAT SHOULD I DO COMMERCIAL"

BTW, long time reader of the forum first-time poster.

Actually, he could do it like a HS athlete at a press conference announcing which college he is committing to. He will be at the dais with a bunch of hats (baseball caps) for each team in his final 5. So it will a hat for us, LA Galaxy, and three random teams, one of which would have to include the RS just for fun. Then he starts talking about how he wants to go back to Europe (Galaxy out), than he says he wants to go back to the EPL (continental team(s) out), than he talks about going to Merseyside and makes a move for the RS hat, only to mockingly dismiss it while he puts on the Everton hat, all to applause from the peanut gallery.

Than RS fans can brag that they made his final 5.

I want him to just show up at Goodison unexpectedly, knock on Moyes' door, say I wanna come back, the two of them hammer out a deal. They call up Bruce Arena at the Galaxy and Landon says, "Bruce, I've loved working for you, and I'll be back in a few years, but I need to do this, please don't stand in my way. I know it's less than you hoped for, but please accept this generous offer ($4m) from Everton and we will make sure that the Galaxy get great PR from it. Everton will also come over and play a preseason game every year against the Galaxy every year I'm with them to help continue the relationship and LA can keep 70% of the ticket sales from these games to keep this sale benefiting the club as long as I'm away from it."

Bruce says, "I hate to see you go, but go make us proud over there again and beat the crap out of the red-[Poor language removed]. See you again in a few years."

Then Moyes calls an "unexpected" press conference. Welcomes the press, starts holds up a vanilla #9 jersey with the word "Donovan" on the back, Landon walks out already dressed in his #9 kit, humble, but grinning from ear to ear and runs up to Moyes, hugs him, and graciously accepts the jersey. The press corp and some fans that gathered erupt in cheers. Hearing the news, the rest of the team busts in and joins in the celebration. Rodwell runs up and lifts up Landon again and the place erupts again.

Then with Landon back marauding down the right, the blues show the same purpose they did last year and go on an epic run of form. He and Coleman immediately strike up a partnership more dangerous and fluid than Baines and Pienaar ever were. All is good in Goodison...

Yeah, I know I'm dreaming, but I like how this version plays out.
