Am I reading a BBC article right and Joe Anderson wants us all to turn our backs at a certain time tomorrow in some sort of protest about EFC not banning The Sun?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39603942

I won't be doing it and I don't think Anderson should be trying to drive a wedge between us and and our club.

I banned The Sun from my life long before Hillsborough and I could never understand why anyone ever bought the filthy, right wing rag, edited by a total scumbag.

It seems McKenzie had been "suspended" by the rag following his preposterous article about Ross Barkley.

Bad and all as this item is, it pales into insignificance given Trump, with his domestic policy in tatters in the early days of his presidency, has already started wagging the dog and the world appears to be lurching toward some kind of major conflict in the near future.

That is what is worrying me :(

I'm surprised Liverpool only just banned it this February

To be fair to them they showed a bit of class by waiting for the verdict, which completely vindictcated their fans on that awful day. Unlike the su* they waited until the time was right and the ban was fully justified.

The article is a disgraceful and shameful attack by a horrible and vile individual who's like have been tolerated for far too long.

I read the article at the time and actually thought that it was deliberately controversial and a wind-up but nonetheless
made a solid point. Bars, pubs, night clubs are dangerous players for well-known figures and in a moment you can be glassed
or jumped. I was also initially surprised that Barkley did not have any security.

He is not an ordainry bloke and when he goes out he becomes a target for some and I reckon that he needs to get smarter. All young
successful players face the same problem so they have to go to top spots where they get special treatment.

If you want to buy or read the Sun, that is an individual choice and EFC should stay out of it.

Nar the sun is a gobshite newspaper written by and for gobshite's

The point about the bars and pubs was that he's rich and got what is to be expected when out in them pubs mingling with everyone else who have just broke the £7.50 wage barrier

You've got to remember who wrote this article, then you can see the disdain in everything he says about scousers

In a profession which is held in low regard by many, writing for a rag McKenzie still manages to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
I am normally against censorship but, in this case, I would ban their reporters from Goodison and any Everton press event. If someone came into your home and insulted one of your family or your background you wouldn't invite them back.
I personally would never buy it or even pick it up, so effectively I have already banned it.

..it's fine suspending McKenzie but I would think his editor authorised the article before it was published.

It's also got through subs too. So several people have deemed it acceptable.

Any decent journalist worth their salt would do research before writing such an article. It's not even the racist slur that annoyed me as we know kelvin is not a worthy writer, just a scumbag hired to make crass articles.

This was a terrible article against Barkley and Liverpool. The sun should sack him but don't hold your breath.

I've heard on here that we can admit that Barkley not the most intelligent when on the pitch but that does not mean he dumb. If Barkley is dumb. What does that make Kelvin, never like to say this next line but he a waste of sperm.

The scouse jibes will continue for generations to come. Harry Enfield did a tremendous job on us and I wouldn't want the media to get so sterile that you can't have a go at different parts of the country. It's cruel British humour.

The problem is that McKenzie has significant previous. Where his lies caused deep unimaginable pain to grieving families and a city trying to support its own. Any other person in his situation would have left the Liverpool people topic well alone.

So it shows the contempt he truly has for scousers that he feels he can type what he just did. That leads me to believe there's no remorse on his behalf. The self serving rat.

Very fair point, but McKenzie was su* editor in 1989, he knows the score, he knew what he was doing. How many lives does this low life deserve?

The more I think about this article, the more I am convinced McKenzie is "taking one for the team".

He knows publishing an article like that would lead to uproar, given the fractious history of the people of the city of Liverpool and his rag.

The subs would be aware of it....even if they are young and were barely out of diapers in 1989, the recent Inquest and the subsequent mealy mouthed "apology" would have been a hot topic in Wapping.

The editor would certainly have known there would be great controversy.

So why print it?

Because The Sun was never one bit sorry about the post Hillsborough stories.

Nor was McKenzie.

That "apology" was dragged out of them and they have resented it and seethed about it ever since.

So now they are just giving the two fingered salute to us with another nasty bit of vitriol.

And McKenzie spending a short while in the sin bin is, in his eyes, a price worth paying to annoy us again.

I bet the bugger is quite the hero among his co-workers.

Banning the sun just gives it importance, instead every time they ask a question the club/player/manager should just look at them, snigger, ignore the question and say 'next'
Treating a rag like his with contempt, is better than making it a media martyr.

@davek I've had very same conversations regarding Sky and The S*n backing them lot and the bias toward sky and hate toward them

It was that rag that printed the lies
It was that rag that was covered up by a Tory government
It was that rag that has again insulted Liverpool and it's teams this week.

Ultimately it should be Murdoch and it's cronies hung and drawn BUT, it's always that f*cking rag.
