Set pieces..

It would be sound to be better at them but its not as vital as being the difference between getting top4 or not

Actually think Barkley's got a really good delivery, problem is it's inconsistent. Del's corners on Monday were beyond abysmal. Barkley's ball in when Wickham hit the bar and some of his corners against Bournemouth were really good.

Hmmm. I was sat directly in the line that Ross took that and to be honest, I thought it was a a poor free kick that Wickham almost made into a glorious oggie as he completely got his header wrong.

That's just not true. Until the Bournemouth game we hadn't scored a single goal from a set piece. That is the worst record in the league. We ain't Barcelona, we need a few scrappy, boring, header from a corner goals.

The rate of scoring from corners is less than 3% in th entire league, sure would be nice to see a few better ones from us but theyre not as important as some think, certainly not as much to be the difference between getting top 4-5 or not

Everton bring them stats down. I wonder what palaces stats are? We are losing points because of crosses not being dealt with by Keeper and defence and it is an obvious weak link. Don't know if the stats would say if we would be in the top 4 or not but we lost 2 points at Bournemouth and 2 points at home to Liverpool and we could possibly throw in Arsenal away for not dealing with crosses. It is a problem that needs rectified or we will finish several places down the league due to it.

What's more puzzling to me is that we haven't seemed to notice it as a team, because if that keeps happening, surely you'd have at least one person make a run to the near post to flick it on?

And this is the point some people are missing.

Del is most likely deliberately dropping the ball short of the near post on occasion in the expectation that someone will indeed make a run and attempt to flick the ball across the goal for on in rushing attacker to get on the end of.

You can't just drop the ball plumb in the middle of the six yard box and expect owt other than the goalkeeper to gleefully leap in the air and collect it.

Unless you taking the corners against Everton, of course......where that is your most likely your best ploy :(

As several people have already said.....it is not so much the delivery of the corner which is letting us down as the sheer static nature of our men who are supposed to be attacking it.

Them stats are based on thousands of corners over a season.

The reason why we might finish lower than expected is GK not the odd corne, a new keepers the answer

Our defending of corners is marginally worse than our taking of them and both situations are in dire need of attention, particularly the former as the impact here is much more material. One poor piece of defending and it is a goal conceded, every time. An excellent corner taken by us isn't necessarily a goal scored.
