Sean Dyche

Whilst he left us in a poor position, as a fan base we were incredibly low and demoralised when Benitez left us. Lampard ultimately was part of keeping us up and having a positive PR spin served a purpose in getting the fans and club better aligned which was an important part in ensuring we stayed up as the fan base rallied incredibly.

He left us in an awful place, but so did Dyche (Dyche who made several comments about the fans etc and made zero attempt to align him self with the fans or with the club, only serving himself).
Ultimately I suppose The job description is to gather points for the club and I was pretty happy with Dyche in terms of the job he performed when he arrived and the position we were in and also the next season when the club was in turmoil .

Lampard also kept us up but the job he did was also unifying a fractured club post the other fella . Fans arguing and even fighting and a completely toxic atmosphere we needed someone of franks personality type to start the healing . This is no criticism of Dyche early days here but his aloof attitude could have been disastrous if we’d missed out Lampard .

Dyche did a decent job for a while then it was his time to go , I’m more impressed that he’s managed to convince the world he’s the new allardyche in times of relegation battles . Given he wants to nurture that idea , his performance at forest , the expectations and the nature of the spurs squad it doesn’t surprise me at all he doesn’t fancy it

He was an absolutely terrible manager for us, but a likable and fiery guy which plays well. It was obvious he cared.
I actually think Lampard might be our worst ever manager, maybe worse than Mike Walker, likeable guy and brought a feel good factor but how we stayed up that first season of fighting relegation was incredible. I fully believe the fans kept us up that season.

I honestly thought Spurs would easy stay up, but somehow they appear to have appointed the very worst manager for the job. If they'd have got for Mason or Keane, they'd probably very quickly start picking up points with the fans back onside and the players all puling in the same direction. Dyche would easily have them safe, as would Allardyce or Redknapp (probably even Jamie). They'll probably need to make another change after they get humiliated by Liverpool at the weekend.

When people talk about Dyche controlling the narrative or hoodwinking people he’s a poor imitation of the likes of Redknapp .

Fella is nearly 80 and his last two jobs , which were a decade ago , saw him rock bottom and failing miserably .

I find it mad he’s spoken of in such glowing terms and I haven’t even thought about him relegating Southampton or bankrupting pretty much every club he’s been at .

Joe royle is younger , has I think been in work more recently and that more recent work was more successful and much as I love him I’m not sure I’d be trumpeting him if we were in trouble .

Wonder if they are letting him have the Liverpool game so a new manager can start with an easier game
They’re at home to Forest next which is one of the biggest relegation battles in recent premier league history unless they beat the RS!
I wouldn’t fancy throwing a new manager in for that one after how that new manager bounce worked for Tudor!

It's just the Spurs death spiral. They are so panicked now and out of their comfort zone that even Appy Arry Redknapp, innit, is considered a viable alternative.

Trips to Preston North End and Huddersfield await - both clubs with as many or more league titles than Spurs...

I was thinking about why lampard gets off so easy the other day. I think it's because he was sandwiched between 2 of the most unpopular managers we've had. He is a very limited manager and had Moyes taken over from him, I think our fans would've been a lot more critical of him.

It's how they talk and the language they use. Dyche frequently separated himself from the players when he spoke, he talked himself up and the club and players down. He's always done this and it's why he comes across as so annoying to many people. He distances himself from any negative and constantly promotes himself, talking nonsense frequently to spin a narrative, all while wiping his nose on his hand and wiping it over his head. As a manager he is severely limited, he's a run faster try harder manager and that kind of approach is finished in modern day football. It's why his Forest run was so short.

Lampard was a younger manager who really tried to make a go of it. His backroom staff was strong, he talked the club up and he associated himself with the club and the fans from the start. Lampard is a clever guy and he's far more of a modern day leader than Dyche will ever be. Lampard recognised what needed to be done to push us forward, but he tried to implement it too quickly/didn't have the experience to do it. It was probably too soon for him.

That's the difference for me, neither was good enough but one tried everything he could to make a go of it and talked the club up, the other distanced himself from the start and made it all about him.

Tottenhams first choice centre half pairing are both out against Liverpool, one has failed the concussion protocol and one is suspended. Not sure that is a good thing or a bad thing for Spurs this weekend..

Mike Walkers stats has him at the bottom of the league...

I continue to scratch my head at the venom aimed at him by some Everton supporters. Anyone who thinks that way I'd immediately class them as divvies...and they are too. Know-nothing divvies.
Spot on mate. Any REAL Evertonian would show their support for this fine club by raving about a manager who left over a year ago, demonising the current manager, supporting a second team that sings YNWA and spending half of their time on RAWK.

You’d have to be a ‘kin divvy not to see that.

For anyone wondering:

Dyche’s final season had us at 0.89 ppg so just under 34 over a full season.

Year before that we finished on 40 points.

We objectively went backwards under him and was rightly binned.

I am as fair to consider Dyche won us 48 points in his full season here, and probably would have seen his contract out if he repeated that last season...

In the end, it was just too much of poor results, it was like a 14 games run of without a win at first and a final season in a relegation battle. We had a few games without a shot on target at the end his spell.

If you have 8 wins in 41 games you have little arguments to be still in charge at any club...
