If I take 3 steps forwards then take 2 back, am I further forward than when I started or have I gone backwards?

I was thinking about why lampard gets off so easy the other day. I think it's because he was sandwiched between 2 of the most unpopular managers we've had. He is a very limited manager and had Moyes taken over from him, I think our fans would've been a lot more critical of him.Objectively - we went backwards under Lampard. He didn't improve us. We sacked Benitez with us in 15th, 6 points clear. Benitez did more to keep us up that season. In his full season Lampard had us at our lowest tally ever and 19th/level on points with 20th when he was sacked. Only Mike Walker has a worse record as Everton manager than Lampard. But he punched the air/was trendy so fans give him a massive pass. Celebrated staying up like we won a trophy. Hugging/endorsing the board. He follows GOT on Instagram and so I can see his online status and I'm convinced the bloke spent longer on Instagram than he did managing the club - he was never off the bloody thing.
I know the word 'cult' is thrown around quite breezily, but my goodness me I think there is a (thankfully) small one that's formed around Dyche in this fanbase.
There are posters who define themselves on this forum by their devotion to him... and I cannot fathom it anymore than I can fathom those that throw themselves at Trump's feet.
I'd have thought that it's because Lampard comes across as a 'nice guy' who clearly cared about Everton, or 'got Everton' as some say. I don't think Benitez's greatest fans could say the same about him.I was thinking about why Lampard gets off so easy the other day. I'm only using this post to say since posted at 9:35pm yesterday, this thread has jumped up 8 pages."Ex Notts Forest and Burnley boss..."
Leaving us out like a pro, is Vinny. For added authenticity. That's a master's subtlety.
He was rubbish for us, but he's done an excellent job at Coventry. Sometimes it's about the blend of things. He was also very inexperienced when he joined us, we'll see how he does in the PL next year.I was thinking about why lampard gets off so easy the other day. He was an absolutely terrible manager for us, but a likable and fiery guy which plays well. It was obvious he cared.I was thinking about why lampard gets off so easy the other day. Whilst he left us in a poor position, as a fan base we were incredibly low and demoralised when Benitez left us. Lampard ultimately was part of keeping us up and having a positive PR spin served a purpose in getting the fans and club better aligned which was an important part in ensuring we stayed up as the fan base rallied incredibly.Objectively - we went backwards under Lampard.
