Seamus Coleman Calls Time On Everton Playing Career

"It was possible, hence why I brought my kids out. I didn’t want to ever miss that opportunity. I walked them out for Everton and I wanted to walk them out for Ireland. Again, you never know so I wanted to walk my kids out. I wasn’t sure at that time really and, again, I’ve got to perform in these two games and see how I feel, see where I’m at."

The guy is absolutely taking the proverbial out of us and rubbing our noses in it, he's like a John Delaney, except on the pitch.

The turd 💩 that won't flush.
Now, now. Seamus was never the type of guy to overstay one welcome when two will do instead.

I hope all the fans give him a great ovation next season when he trots out for Coventry, and he runs around like a teenage.

I always thought those words from Lampard did nothing for Coleman. It emphasised his loyalty and ability as a leader rather than his undoubted talent to get forward and carry our attack which he could do for the bulk of his career. Lampard's words about Seamus the man rather than Seamus's playing contribution is painful to watch and he should have had more tact in the way he handled what he said on the night rather than blurt that out.

Shamus was offered a coaching role for us 2 seasons ago, & was not fussy & we extended his contract - If you want to compare servants to the club look at the like of Brain Labone _ Jonny Morrissey etc different era but when they were past it off they went no fuss - Shamus has been an asset no doubts about it but in the eras I mention - no comparison to the two I mentioned ....

The days of player staying at one club are over 99%

They were local lads in an era when local players still played most of their careers locally. Morrissey came to us from Liverpool FC, as you know.

In short: you're comparing apples and pears. And loyalty is loyalty whichever way you cut it. You cant devalue it willy-nilly.
