4132 formation. Sandro one of the two upfront with one of Niasse or DCL. Gylfi in behind and Mirallas/Lookman/Vlasic/Lennon the other two. Oh and a Schniederlin who isn't utter gash.

4-1-3-2 formation, at least at home against the likes of Watford when we're more likely to have more ball possession. One defensive midfielder, one central midfielder (Davies/Sigurdsson) two wide men with pace (Mirallas/Lennon/Lookman, Vlasic?) and two up top, which at the moment means DCL/Rooney/Sandro/Niasse.

Still probably not my ideal formation, but given our squad, it might be the best way to make use of it. One up top clearly isn't working.

What are these 'goals' that you speak of?

But seriously, needs to be niasse starting. And we need wingers with some -Lennon or mirallis or vlasic- at least we posed some threat in first half. Second half unsy did a koeman and took all the wingers off.

At least we know now that inexperienced youth combined with over the hill talent does not work.

And hopefully the board/moshri/Walsh have learnt by now that it's worth spending a few bob on a striker. We may have to end up paying 40m plus for a bang average journey man prem striker now (hello troy denney,) that everyone sees how desperate we are. Expensive lesson learned.

I thought Mirallas offered much more threat tbh. Niasse was woeful. DCL doesn't carry enough threat either but at least performs a role for the team.

I have to say I was surprised Kev was taken off today.....he was the only one looked like scoring in that first half.

At this point we know enough about our strikers to no that Niasse is just hope and energy, DCL does everything right, just up until its time to shoot, and Sandro struggles with control. I really do think that the best combo is to put 2 up top, Sandro and DCL. But I also think its pointless who we put up there as long as Rooney is playing. Siggurdson needs to play in behind them, with someone like Vlasic and Lookman on the wings for pace. Until then we just wont be scoring goals.

Seriously though, i thought it was positive thta Unsworth had the plums to replace Rooney. Hopefully the next match he will say to him, you start, but you show discipline or you are off again! Say what you will aabout him, but he put two world class passes through that both would have led to a goal if Lukaku was still with us?

Anyone but lewen.

The lad can't score in the league, 10 games in has proven that. We have a striker who is scoring in niasse and a player shunned immediately in sandro who may or may not be the answer.

Common sense right now would put Rooney and niasse on the team sheet and build a team around them two as they are the only ones scoring for us. The more we put kids in there and have them not perform or score is going to drag us deeper. Surely it's not rocket science, 2 players to score, so play them both to their strengths and see where we go from there

Was a big fan of DCL at the start of the season but if he misses any more golden opportunities i think my head will burst full scanners style.

Oumar is the way to go, skills are lacking but he makes chances through pure graft and has decent finishing ability. Plus I dunno he has that cult hero about him.

Mainly because he's garbage but still.
