My argument was that we needed strengthening desperately elsewhere and that centre midfield was well catered for and not a priority. And that was true. Not needed though?

His openly ambitious mindset has been great to see.
DUH, DUH, DUHRADUH DUH, MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN!
Mixed bag of games so far.
The evidence is this:
Signed as a lower league player; achieved promotion and did well enough for a move to a big club; couldn't hold down a place there; moved to Everton and has acquitted himself well in the VERY short period of time he's been here.
How anyone gets "great" out of all that mystifies me. It's not like a Rooney who everyone first off could see what a breathtaking talent he was and was to become; he's a player in his late 20s who's been around the block and achieved nothing.
Let's just give him the chance to master a halfways decent whole season at his new club.
BOOOOOOOOOOCringey that song.
So you think we would have been better off without him? He's an upgrade on what we had.... He was available we would have been stupid not to get someone of his calibre. My argument was that we needed strengthening desperately elsewhere and that centre midfield was well catered for and not a priority. And that was true.

BOOOOOOOOOO
Slight overstatement. I think most outsiders raised an eyebrow that he was released by United as he'd done nothing much wrong. But that's a far cry from being one of the best midfielders in the league. That's a conceit that's shared by many Evertonians but no one much besides. I just dont get it. I dont get the OTT appraisal. And I notice that when he puts in a turd performance the embarrassment is palpable so no one much pulls him up on it.Dave he's 27, isn't that classed as mid twenties rather than late?
He did better than "well enough" at saints, enough that the wealthiest club in footy bought him and France called him up. As well as being regarded as one of the best midfielders in the league.
Time will tell.So you think we would have been better off without him? He's an upgrade on what we had.... He was available we would have been stupid not to get someone of his calibre.

We're Everton, we're not Bournemouth. Someone cant just tip up and play a dozen matches in order to be called "great". He has a long, long way to step into the company of some of the midfielders who've played for Everton.
I think (and have said many times) he's a very decent player. But he's been here a very short period and cant seriously be considered as a great.Oh please dont tell me that he is being labelled an Everton "Great"!
He is a very good player, who has shown some real good touches and seems to fit into the side, and is an excellent addition to the squad/first team.
But a Great? With you on the hyperbole alert on this Dave.
Saying that, would be made up if in a few years time he was seen as a great Everton player.
and De Bruyne as well...Well he did let lukaku go as well.... so yeah he's not exactly the all knowing..

I remember all the OTT stuff about McCarthy three years ago and now that looks ridiculous. He was a good player before injury took what he had away from him. I think Schneiderlin has more to his game than McCarthy had, but there's no way he'll amount to a player that we turn to to pull us around in matches and regularly win us games. He's just not that player.
