Sky Sports | Football | News | Adams rules out Saviola bid

Portsmouth boss Tony Adams has ruled out a move for Javier Saviola because he wants to sign players with Premier League experience and fitness.
Executive chairman Peter Storrie was quoted on Thursday morning saying that Pompey were in talks with the Real Madrid forward as they look for firepower to fight off the threat of relegation.
Adams, though, insists he is not interested in Saviola - who has struggled for first-team football at the Bernabeu - and is adamant he has never shown a genuine desire to bring the 27-year-old to England because he wants players who can make an immediate impact.
"You need people that know the league and can come in and hit the ground running," Adams, who succeeded Harry Redknapp in October, told Sky Sports News.

What do you reckon? Should we be trying to get him? We were linked with him a few weeks ago http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ton-and-Portsmouth-in-for-Javier-Saviola.html

Adams delayed comments look suspect to me. Playing devils advocate here but maybe we have nipped in? Fingers crossed.

They seemed pretty intent on it to Storrie came out and said they were in negotiations and were hopefull.

Who knows i was surprised Kissock went out on loan today after being on the bench recently. All quotes said for "Initialy a month" could be hedgeing our bets.

I've said it once, I've said it twice.

We'll get Kanu.

And maybe a packet of wine gums.

I know someone that met someone that stocks the vending machine at Fratton park; they said they were getting a new delivery this Friday. And that Kanu was fed up of everyone stealing his Jelly Beans and has demanded a loan move to somewhere with nice toffees.....

Maybe we have jose coming back in? OR a midfielder is on the way in and ossie will take JPK's seat?

Mout?

I think he would be a decent buy, you cant be rubbish if you have pulled on a Madrid shirt

Its those ******* other clubs in Europe, they all want money for players. They are killing this club with their reasonable demands for top quality players.

I mean if Bill rang you up and said "Excuse me im the Chairman of Everton, i was in Corrie once and i know Barrymore. Can we lend your international striker off you for a few months and we promise NOT to send him back injured. Oh and if hes half decent we will sort you out with a few quid when we get our giro".

I blame ******* UEFA and FIFA. Oh and Sky. Oh and Chelsea.

It is not mandatory for a man to hump all the beautiful women he knows... but it is mandatory for a man to try.

Why not trying to sign the "Rabbitt" Saviola?

He would be beneficial but somehow I feel he may have slightly heavy wage demands.

Gazdalf, mate, for all that matters I really don't care how much he earns. I'm just a supporter and I'd like to see this little fellow in a blue shirt. We could get him on loan, since he's hungry for first team football, and this one would score, that's his specialty.

I don't know if we'd be able secure his signature on a permanent basis, but until the end of this season, I think it would be possible.
