Ross Barkley

I just hope that with a bit of real coaching from Koeman and his team that he is able to realise his true potential and rip the Prem apart this coming season!

Would be nice if he could sit there at the end of the season with a little suck my stump you media belters sort of grin on his face.

Just read Stan Collymore's attack on the England team. He speaks some sense, especially when talking about the likes of Rooney and Hart. I thought his comments on Ross were a bit unfair suggesting that whilst he has all the natural ability in the world it has been common knowledge around the England and Everton camp for a while now that he doesn't have a footballing brain - everything is instinct and when that doesn't work he is a liability.
I personally think that's bullsh*t but lets say that it's true why did Roy take him?! I get that the press are angry that once again their media darling players from the media darling clubs failed to deliver but managing to throw digs at a player who didn't even get on the pitch is just petty.

I think it's a fair point to be honest. When you don't have a "footballing brain" you have to be drilled to death and under Martinez you always got the feeling that he let the likes of Barkley do what they wanted because they were considered flair players. If Koeman can get him to a point where everything comes naturally because he's so well drilled in every aspect of his game then we'll see the very best of him again.

I could understand Stans comments, if Ross had scored and created nothing and never dominated a game....or even never been the best player on the pitch for England against world class nations.....

Exactly.

He's gone from no end product to no footballing brain.

I think its people having zero belief in him and not letting him play to iron out mistakes.

He's also unlike any other English player out there. That means they don't know what to do with or where to pigeon hole him.

Anyone remember that through ball assist to Walcott in one of the qualifiers? If I remember rightly, the Guardian put it as 'absolutely no one in the stadium saw that pass - but Ross Barkley did'.

No footballing brain my arse. Just needs a good manager for once.

His decision making has come on leap and bounds this season, hopefully add to some tactical awareness added by Big Ron and his team we will see all that talent channelled into the player we know is there...
