Oh Christ. This is what the international break does to people

Looking forward to so many elaborate thread propositions

‘Do you think that such and such would have whatevered if it wasn’t for so and so’

And then there’s the flagellation threads;

‘What is the worst Everton thing that Everton ever Evertoned and how Everton did you feel about it (please go into excruciatingly depressive detail as it helps me to get off)

Legs went years ago and was a mistake bringing him back. He was brought back on sentiment rather than football logic.

That being said he was a great player and is an England legend.

Just wish he was coming through the academy now.

That about sums it up, for me...although I think we're still not in a position where he would've stayed more than a couple more years, provided everything played out the same way in regards to his play. We're in a much better position, financially, but we're far from being able to keep hold of World Class ability for any length of time...especially at the age he was showing it.

Just a question topic to get people thinking :

Do posters on here think that if we would have signed Rooney, with the present crop of signings, do people think he would have been more of a success, or lasted longer ?
It was a friendly, a charity game played at charity speeds, they gave him 33 mins @ 95% full pace for a reason.

The guy still think he's the superstar he once was and tries all sort of stuff that he can't pull off anymore. He simply tries to make the killer ball too often, makes bad decision, and shouldn't even be on our bench. He's at the right level now and playing well. Let him be.

..of course he would have lasted longer, because it means the current manager will have wanted him.

Had he stayed, he’s good enough to have still been an option. Regardless, the question is totally hypothetical. The truth is, this Manager didn’t want him and I have no issue with that.

I do feel for him, coming back for his "swan song" to be managed by fat face. I wonder how different it/he would have been had we had this team and manager around him?!

I feel for him, must have been tough getting 150k off us and 150k off United each week for him to perform well in literally about ten games all season. Poor lad, thoughts are with him.

With almost all home games. MLS travel is a real kick in the teeth for most players. DCU had a very unique situation with its new stadium.
