Ronald Koeman discussion

Well, no one could accuse you of being “a bit group thinky” given your apparently contrarian stance about the merits of Koeman about the excellence his management ability in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

Some might call it pig headedness.....others might think it WUMery.

Only you know the answer ;)
Personally I'd just call it a really bad analysis of the current situation.

In the whole world of football 92 domestic football league clubs , teams all across Europe and the world not to mention currently unemployed managers with a side like us that pay Koeman £6m a year the only option you can consider as a possible appointment is Moyes ?
I think he's our best bet from the pool available. rather than Watford or Burnley's manager, which seems to be our field at the moment

What is our no 1 priority now?
To stay in the league. Out of tHe pool of potential suitors s he's the most likely. He knows the players and he club he's available and he will keep us up.

He knows what, about three or four of the players?

Not that it matters.

Sunderland’s no. 1 priority last season was to stay in the league.

Moyes is a light of former days, I am afraid.

I would much rather hand the reins to Unsie, if I am honest with you.

Though if given a straight choice, with a gun pointed at my head, I would indeed choose Moyes over this chancer

But that ain’t much of a recommendation :(

He knows Rooney Keane, Pickford Baines Jags Kenny Davies, Mirallas Barkley Coleman. He's also very good in the transfer market (unlike Unsie who is untested). I think he could allow Unsle experience at first team level (which he doesnt have at the moment) and maybe take over in f18 months himsef

I was only counting the four still here and in the first team squad when he left.

I forgot about Rooney and neve4 thought of Pickford and would suggest he had little or no dealings with Davies and Kenny when he was here.

But anyway.

This is an absurd discussion,

Moyes is washed up and there is no danger of him returning.

Moyes sued Rooney for a lot of money and, I think , Rooney’s legal team had to apologise in court . Tom Davies and Kenny where what about 15 and 16 when Moyes left and absolutely not first team squad members . Ross Barkley gave a pen away and Moyes pretty much bombed him out , as I remember it , and the lad had made about four starts in the league when Moyes left . As for Keane didn’t Moyes loan him out so he’d hardly have got to know him .

Ok you’re a Moyes fan and you obviously want him back but let’s be fair you’re reaching there mate . We’ve got a couple of players he knows and probably, hopefully , has a good relationship with . Hardly a reason to ignore his pretty awful record since leaving the club .

You typed more quickly and dealt with it more succinctly than me .

Good point mate, but we also have to consider the possibility that your probably wrong. Welcome though.

Yes,sorry of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm sure you can show me the stats for our excellent manager from his career then?

I'm fairly sure in his one and a 1/4 seasons here he's had not much influence on our youngsters, you rather embellished that fact, I'm sure Unsy and Sheeds would have something to say about that.

He's a very good tactician is he, that would explain why he can't seem to find the right formation thus far and why he needs in almost every game to change the tactics half way through because he made a mess of it in the first place.

I'm beginning to think you're actually not being serious, not been on the board long enough to know.

Thankyou for the welcome.

Thats literally what he has said. He wanted players in their prime years.

It's still madness how much we spent on a 28year old player. Literally no resale value whatsoever there.

Its not even the resale it is the fact that "peak" is actually a lot earlier than people think. 28 is actually start of decline.

The Bolasie, Williams, Sigurdsson deals are basically £150m down the drain (wages + fees). Could have bought Sevilla (the club) for that type of money.

Whereabouts?
Our wide play, being our full backs interacting with the wide players, is completely non-existent because he keeps chopping the team up every two minutes.

We have no energy in the midfield when on the ball because he persists in playing Morgan Schneiderlin.

He's constantly changed the back four so there is no consistency or partnerships developing. The only consistent before Sunday was Ashley Williams who's been cack.

I don't believe in having two wingers. I think it's far two predictable. I can't understand however why we are playing no wingers at all though. It seems obvious, albeit to me as one who is far from someone with football pedigree, that it should be Sigurdsson wide left who can come in and create with Lennon or someone else with some pace on the other. Variation and unpredictability is essential.
Throw in a top striker who will make runs and stretch the play and you have all of our immediate issues.
Throw a striker in with the same mess and you'd have a bit of difference but it wouldn't be all sunshine and rainbows.

They let him manage the semi final which IMO was the right thing.

I understood the reasoning, Martinez got us to that Semi, so give him the chance to see if he can go all the way.

That would have been fine by me but for the derby a few days before, to lose in the manner we did in an important game, granted not as important as the semi, was evidence to most of us that the semi was lost if he was in the dugout at Wembley.

Koeman hasn't passed that point of no return yet.
