Rodwell

Its upto the people around him to keep his feet on the ground. He seems a stable lad , hopefully he gets the right advice and his part of our team for many seasons to come. I hope the clubs ambitions match his own.

Despite all the hype and his obvious talent, still think it could be 2-3 years before he will be able to perform week in week out consistently in the Prem.

Next up Baxter.

I reckon Baxter will have a harder job. IMO the pressure is greater on the strikers. Remember Jeffers, Branch , Cadamateri and to a certain extent Barlow. All big things were expected. Again he needs people around him to keep him on an even keel.

I see him more playing in the hole mate, between defence and the striker similar to the postion Rooney plays or the role Jo played for us withdrawn last season. The talent is there but not so sure his body has developed yet, think Moyesy will give him some game time this season maybe in the Carling or if we come up against some nothing games if we qualify early in the Europa. He was on the bench a fair bit last season.

I watched him about month ago for the England youth team and although Germany doubled up on him and snuffed him out of the game, hes a clever player and has the knack of finding a bit of space. All the England lads went looking for him to do something with the ball and that despite there being a few alleged big guns in that team like Wilshire at Arsenal.

How about his temperment, Rodwell is obviously a calm individual, is Jose of the same ilk?A Rooneyesque player.......ummmm Ihope he doesn't compared to him, that could seriously heap pressure on the lad.

Not sure mate i havnt seen enough of him to say anything about his temprement, in the games ive seen though hes relied more on his skill, movement and anticpation rather on physical attributes which would makes you think hes not going to be creaming people, his physiuqe is totally different to Rooneys.

Couple of points which makes me think Moyesy rates and will use him:

Hes the youngest ever player to start a game for Everton. (On Moyesys watch)

He was on the bench for the cup final.

Ray Hall says he is a better all around player then Rooney was at the same age.

Agree, while I can understand that youngsters want to become as great as Rooney has become, players like him are very rare. Most often a youngster that leaves early to join a big club falls through.

Don't think that will happen to Rodwell though. From what I've seen from the televised games last season he looked sensible enough. Not seen Baxter play, so can't judge him there.

Fingers crossed for him......It will be a big season for Vaughn aswell IMO.

Vaughany is a player mate, no doubt about it, he was good enough two years ago, if he can stay fit i have no doubt about him.

That said if Vaughan stays fit, i think it could spell the end for Vic, Vaughan gives us a lot of what Vic does but is also more of a goal threat.

Thats the key isn't it staying fit. In the time he has been on the scene , his injury history is quite horrendous. I know he is still young but they must take their toll. As for Vic, I reckon he could be some player but there seems to be something missing, maybe atitiude....could be we cash in on him.

It is mate hes had some mad injuries. Despite that what a lot of people forget is that he has some decent expierence.

- Youngest ever Prem goalscorer.

- Has scored a few in the prem

- Played and scored in Europe

- Played for England U17, 18, and 21's

- Scored in the Semi final shoot out against Man U.

- Has played in the F.A. Cup final.

Not bad for 20, but like you say the injuries are the thing.

The main problem for James Vaughan is the level of competition has got alot higher, he is now competing with two of the better strikers in this League in Yakubu and Louis Saha. Maybe even Jo if we sign him.

Even if he gets himself fit he's still going to struggle to get a game. The fact that we play one upfront goes against him aswell.

He'll still be very useful though, his pace, enthusiasm and sheer energy from the bench especially can change any game. I just hope he can stay fit, his attitude has always been spot on.

As for Baxter, I think he'll be introduced as a wide player next season.
