'Roberto promised me Champions League' - remember how everyone laughed?

We wont get 4th. Those four places have been nailed on all season for the two Manchester clubs (despite ginger's shortcomings they'll find a way) and Arsenal and Chelsea.

Very confident now though that we can pick up a Europa League spot if it goes down to 6th this year. And we need European football again to keep our profile up and players happy.

Davek, very negative. There is a huge difference with this side from ones under Moyes. That performance against Arsenal has us nailed on for a top 4 finish and who knows where.

Nailed on is far too strong. It's a possibility at the moment, nothing more. It's still going to be a HUGE ask - but we're definitely in the mix.

The way we controlled the game away against the league leaders gives nothing but positive thoughts for me. We absolutely dominated play. We are a match for anyone. I am highly highly confident. I'm not even looking at 4th spot anymore. We can go beyond that.

We've had the toughest fixture list out of anyone in the top 7, and we're still in touching distance of 2nd place. We're the only one (i'm pretty sure) of those teams who have played all of the current top 4, plus Spurs and Man Utd...

We NEED to string a good set of results together between now and mid-January, when we have a (comparatively) easier fixture list than those around us, otherwise all the amazing work we've done so far will be for nothing.

I agree but I don't think anyone in this league can just assume they are going to win 3/4 games in a row because of the opposition. Every team is capable of causing an upset. I'd be happy with 8/9 points from our next 4 games which would put us on 36/37 points at the half way stage which would be great.

I don't think I said anyone COULD expect that to be fair. But you've clearly got more chance of winning games against Fulham and Swansea than you have games against Man City and Chelsea (which for example is the difference between our fixtures and Arsenal's the next 2 weeks)

All I meant was that over the next month we've got a more straightforward list of fixtures compared to those teams around us - if for no other reason than whatever the results, they'll all be taking points of each other.

Everyone around us will spend decent money in Jan

We'll be lucky to spend a £30 Nando's voucher

To finish top 4 in that situation would be a massive achievement

We should have at least £10m if not there is something wrong. £33.5m from the sale of Felli and Victor. I'd say maximum £23m of that is accounted for.

Talk of Champions League is hugely premature at this stage. We are certainly not nailed on for a top four finish. I think top six is our level for now.

We need to hammer the mid / lower table clubs as well as playing well against the big boys. The next six games are crucial to improving our consistency. I think Southampton and an improved Fulham will be the tricky fixtures.

The big thing about the next month or so is that for every win we pick up, we'll be gaining ground on SOMEONE, because I think pretty much every week there's at least one game involving two of the teams around us playing each other.

Top 4 HAS to be the target.

Even if we don't make it we have to really GO FOR IT. We can't be satisfied with 6th or 7th, not after seeing what Martinez is trying to do with the team. He sets up to win every time his players step out on the football pitch. As fans, it would be a disservice to him if we don't increase our own expectations in line with his own.

In recent weeks we've played the current top-2 off the park and put to bed a 21-year mindfck hoodoo. We have to aim high.

Honestly mate, vault me in May if I'm wrong but I reckon we are nailed for at least 4th spot. Match for anyone.

Very good point.

I particularly want to catch and overtake Liverpool. From memory I think they have Chelsea, Spurs and Man City in their next six games so I'm hoping they drop points galore. By the next six games we should be above them if everything goes as it should on paper. Football is never like that though.
