Roberto Martinez discussion

There was once a dream that was Everton, you could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish. It was so fragile and I fear that it will not survive the winter.
I think its pretty simple IMO, if he doesnt change his 'system' whatsoever between now and the end of the season i think he should go regardless of if we stay up or not. It clearly doesnt work for this team, when fn PUNDITS call out your system for being generally wank i think you should go. If fn idiots like the lot on Sky know what is wrong and you think they are all wrong, just show yourself the door mate.

If we had been told we would be out of the FA Cup, 12 in the league, 4 points above the relegation zone and 17 points off 4th place at this stage before the season started we would not have believed it. And things will get worse before they get better. Martinez definitely has something special as any other manager would have been sacked by now. What makes him more special is that I still believe he may just get it right despite all the evidence to the contrary. He is the Special One.

Just out of interest who is your candidate for his successor?

I'd like Martinez to turn it around, I really would. But there is a problem with that now.....

i. If he changes something (it'll have to be his stubbornness) the question will always be there - why not change it sooner?
ii. Having been so positive last season, why setup against the strengths of his star striker he made a full signing of in the summer?
iii. With the fans booing, a lot, what is he doing between those moments usually at full time to when he gets interviewed a matter of minutes later?
iv. Working free kicks on the edge of the opponents area back to our keeper - if we were playing the harlem globe trotters weekly I could understand not playing into their hands (haha), so, is the fear and lack of confidence in the players on the pitch instilled by him or simply something he is either ok with or not aware of?
v. Out with a whimper to Swansea, guts and glory but out on pens to the Ham, is his reputation as a fantastic cup manager a falsehood?
vi. Wheres the nasty streak? Wheres the never say die attitude? Heads drop so quick and then we get steam rollered. Its something we were warned about by Wigan fans - when his sides go bad they go terrible. When does he address this glaring issue?

I get the feeling and it is becoming more of a headache that maybe the time just isn't right, he's dug his heels in and it's getting worse, maybe at the moment the job is too big, there's expectations outstripping both his previous clubs put together, the supporters are booing every game, he appears to be watching a different game, his subs (when they happen!) occasionally make the Moyes fiasco of subs look like genius (not swapping McGeady at half time vs Ham was criminal). He isn't messing about with players that cost two pound ten a go ,it's a side full of internationals, he's been given big monies to spend, he's allowed the best fullback partnership in the league to be negated. It should never have been allowed to get so bad as this, it was all on him to alter it months ago and he failed. He appears to continue to pursue that failure and thats just simply not good enough - not even for a sunday pub team.

Tough road ahead.
