Yet your upset we took a point of the Champions

Not upset, just think there shouldn't be an upturn in atitude just yet because we are still not out of this terrible run yet. many teams go down and spend their time talking about good performances, i just want to start being a bit more optimisitc when we actually win a game and arent getting closer to the bottom 3, which is essentially what we did this weekend.

So as fans we shouldn't see the positives in a good result and a good team display given the performances we have seen the past 5-6 games

not be bloody optimistic about it no. Makes no difference if we play well all season, if we arent winning then it counts for nothing. Results matter and we could play terrible and win the next 15 games and finish in a european place but it wont matter. We can play fancy arse football and go down but talk about good performances.

We arent winning and thats 2 'good performance' games now we havent won in, both at home. Now we start playing away games and that cranks the difficulty up even more. Especially as west Brom and palace are kinda 6 pointers now.

It makes a lot of difference if we are playing well you utter mutant

We have been playing poorly hence the results against Hull,Stoke and Newcastle

We start to find an improvement in the teams performance and take two draws against two decent sides, Play those games in the manner we played against Hull and it would have been two defeats

Your making out we have been playing good football and losing ffs, We have been the worst side in the country this last 4 games, That's why Everton fans are getting optimistic given the last two games

Jesus, Were to start with this cluster

So we can't be pleased with a draw against the best side in the country because a win would have been better? Ok

"So no, not an unrealistic expectation to say we should have aimed to beat them" WHAT? Are you trying to suggest we didn't try to win that game? Of course we did, We battled, Played well and came up short against a very good side

The last bit is utter tripe, How can I predict what I will think in the future if this or that happens regarding WBA? All I can tell you about is here and now and at this present moment a draw against the Champions was and is a good result no matter what our form is

Now get in the bin

lol

You're having a bit of a mare here @Ashtonian, you're right we need to start winning, but the upturn in confidence is because we actually look like we're capable of winning unlike the last few weeks. Taking any points off City and Chelsea should be seen as a good result, simply because they are so far ahead of everyone else.

Knock it off with stuff like that please Del.

Im going to need a bit more convincing than the City game. Wins against west brom and palace would do that - City are one of the only teams who would play us and worry about their own game rather than trying (and easily managing) to stop us by defending deep and pushing their wingers up to stop our full backs like almost every other team we play. That is when we struggle, and that is what we need to over come in the next 3 weeks to stop us going into a month where we play liverpool, chelsea and arsenal in the bottom 3.

I don't think anybody would argue with that

But without question the last two games have seen us play a lot better than in recent weeks, Stones coming back has made us look a million times better in defence and Lukaku looks like he may start hitting a bit of form at the right time

Fingers crossed

Agreed. That's why we need to be very careful we dont surrender to this notion that getting the ball forward to Lukaku asap is the answer. Those teams at the bottom aren't going to miss a chance to sit deep and snuff that out all day long. We need to remember that only by moving teams like this about from one side of the pitch to the other with some quick passing will we open them up. As said already: match their workrate, not their style. We win if we do that.

While you are right in what you're saying, I totally understand his frustrations, especially after seeing Tottenham smash Chelsea (the champions elect in many peoples eyes)

What does Spurs beating Chelsea have to do with us?

We have been playing poorly, Very poorly and seen a massive up turn in performance on Saturday against the PL champions, Why would you not see a positive from that? How can you moan about getting a point from that game after recent displays

Get beaten or draw on Monday and obviously the mood swings back to "Martinez out" type feelings, But right now I think we need to be a little more upbeat rather than throwing wobblers because we didn't win

Yes but it's hard for some people to not get exited or see a positive when there has been the odd slight glimpse of us getting our act together on the odd occasion already this season, regardless of who we played because anybody can beat anybody sometimes especially when people can't remember the last time we won, sorry but a better performance against a good team just will not make up for the terrible place we find ourselves in, only actually putting a few wins together is going to be a positive for some after what's happened this season
