Still tinkering with the team.....McGeady for Mirallas was an atrocity of a selection
Probably his best decision this year. Martinez was well aware of city's rampaging full backs and played people in midfield that had defensive capabilities. perhaps you would have preferred Mirallas standing on halfway with his hands on his hips like he did when he came on.

It's a free society brother, I defend your right to choose the excellent defensive work of McGeady over Mirallas.

only against class sides like city brother. I'm pleased the manager has learnt we will not take apart every side we play this year. I will be gutted if he starts instead of mirallas against WBA

Give it a rest mate, this isn't a cult, our manager is not infallible and some of his selections have been baffling this season tbf.

so you are saying you know for sure he just dropped Mirallas and put in McGeady for non justifiable reasons?

Its not a cult. 100% correct. The manager is not infallible. 100% correct. You don't know the reason for this particular change, and therefore can't say with such surety that it was an atrocious decision. Also 100% correct.

This could easily be why he choose McGeady over Kev. And if so, thats a long way from being an "atrocious decision"! Perfectly reasonable tactical choice, even if not everybody would have wanted it.

This Mirallas/DudGeady conversation is starting to resemble relegation battles under Moyes when I had to read that Arteta was a luxury we couldn't afford in the starting 11. Sad state affairs for any Club when these things occur...

Totally agree brother, sad when we choose mediocrity over talent.

2) Besic helps Everton respond to critics
Roberto Martínez attributed Everton’s necessary improvement against Manchester City in the Premier League and West Ham United in the FA Cup to the fact that “every individual in the dressing room is taking the lead”. There is no doubt that Everton have responded to criticism of their organisation and willingness to fight since the dreadful league defeat at Hull City, although they head into Tuesday’s Cup replay with West Ham without a win in six matches, and playing to Romelu Lukaku’s strengths has assisted the tentative recovery. But the contribution of Muhamed Besic should not be overlooked. The 22-year-old made only his ninth start in the Premier League on Saturday and endured a difficult first half against the champions but never hid and ultimately flourished in the central midfield contest against Fernandinho and Fernando. Everton have struggled without the injured James McCarthy this season but Besic, a £4m signing from Ferencvaros in the summer, more than compensated for his absence against City. “He is a character who is an out-and-out Everton player,” said Martínez. “He is still developing and working but sometimes you forget he is only 22. When you have the bravery and want to do the right things it is impressive. I love those sort of characters – reliable. You can build strong teams around those characters.”Andy Hunter

makes me laugh how standards have dropped. Not that long ago we would expect to beat City and we did at goodison. Now its 'we are showing signs of improvement' and 'well its a point earnt'.

Yes theat is true, but i am pretty sure that is also the talk of a relegation team. Im sure wigan fans were talking about how games that we didnt win are showing signs of improvement. Fact is, we havent won a game since QPR and before that burnley. Fact is 12 months ago this squad and this team were expected to take the game to city and beat them, not be proud of getting a point against them at hime.

Im all for taking positives but we are no better off for that point and we are still unable to win games. That is still relegation form.
