makes me laugh how standards have dropped. Not that long ago we would expect to beat City and we did at goodison. Now its 'we are showing signs of improvement' and 'well its a point earnt'.
Yes theat is true, but i am pretty sure that is also the talk of a relegation team. Im sure wigan fans were talking about how games that we didnt win are showing signs of improvement. Fact is, we havent won a game since QPR and before that burnley. Fact is 12 months ago this squad and this team were expected to take the game to city and beat them, not be proud of getting a point against them at hime.
Im all for taking positives but we are no better off for that point and we are still unable to win games. That is still relegation form.
Standards and expectations have dropped yes, I don't get your point, We all know this
We have had a poor season and going into the City game 90% of us expected our arses to be handed to us, Instead we seen a much improved performance from the team and something we have lacked in recent weeks, Fight
"I'm all for taking positives but" why the but? Saturday was very positive, A point against the best side in the country is always a good point regardless of form
As for the we are no better off for that point comment, Well yes we are, We are a point better off
First we are two points worse off seeing the teams below us winning games.
But going back to last year, or the season before, this was a game we won. we beat them the first time they won the league at goodison, we beat them the year before that. Ask any City fan and we are normally one of the teams they don't want to play in fear of getting beat. And yet right now we are meant to celebrate a point? Celebrate a better performance? We have internationals on the pitch who have proven how good they are in the past so a better performance is not an achievement in my eyes. It is simply another week without a win and potentially has widened the gap between us and the top half of the league never mind any sort of success this year.
But i forget, a draw is a fantastic result for us, we don't seem to win anymore so lets throw a party eh?
BTW city have been beaten away from home more than once this year so its not like they are even unbeatable.

We've taken more points off City this season than we did last. I think that's reason enough to celebrate our performance and result tbh.
You have to take things in context. There's no point in saying 'we were boss last season so I'm not happy we didn't do better the other day'. We did better than many teams will against them, take the positives and stop being so negative. We've struggled, but we're starting to improve. Context.
I dont mean in comparison to last season i mean in general over the past 10. Just the impression i am getting on here is that we should be happy with the game on saturday, when my point is relegation teams in our position currently talk like that, not teams who sohuld be in the top 7.
I just think as much as we can be happy with how we played it still isnt good enough. Come february, what if we lose tomorrow, draw or get beat at the hawthorns. Will this city point be great then?
100% bull
Any team outside of Utd and Chelsea would be happy with a point at home against the current champions
How can you not be happy with taking a point against one of the best sides in the league when in recent weeks we have been beaten by Hull and Newcastle
Nobody is asking you to get the party poppers out, A good performance and a decent point give us a platform to build on going into important games liker WBA and Palace
but it still isnt 3 points and needs to be the minimum this year now.
BTW i never said we beat them last year, we beat them both the season before and the season they won the league for the first time. Perhaps more the year after, it escapes my mind. So no, not an unrealistic expectation to say we should have aimed to beat them, considering largely the same players played then as well and have press release of disappointment afterwards.
But more to the point, no i didnt expect us to win on Saturday but the players should have done. I raise the question to you as well, draw vs west brom or get beat, out the cup tomorrow and not win a game all month would you still look at the city draw as a good result or simply see it as part of a terrible ongoing run?
After all next week is mr stoke himself with a striker who seems to be able to score against most teams up front. Not exactly a guaranteed 3 points for us.
people not being happy with a point and massively improved performance against a team like City![]()

Jesus, Were to start with this cluster
So we can't be pleased with a draw against the best side in the country because a win would have been better? Ok
"So no, not an unrealistic expectation to say we should have aimed to beat them" WHAT? Are you trying to suggest we didn't try to win that game? Of course we did, We battled, Played well and came up short against a very good side
The last bit is utter tripe, How can I predict what I will think in the future if this or that happens regarding WBA? All I can tell you about is here and now and at this present moment a draw against the Champions was and is a good result no matter what our form is
Now get in the bin
Well i am sorry for having higher expectations than simply being happy with a draw. Doesn't matter if they are the reigning champions, didnt stop us beating them the last time they were, nor has it stopped other teams who are above us beating them this year. You would think we are comfortably in 6th place, not 3 points away from the drop zone and on the back of 5 defeats out of 6.
