Roberto Martinez discussion

I'd take a 1-0 backs against the wall win everytime if it meant we won games. My point is for all the possession we have we don't do enough with it, and our play is very predictable. Martinez is always going on about how talented a squad we have, but if he doesn't buck his ideas up he will lose a lot of them.
We would have a far greater risk of losing the leading lights of that talented squad if we were to fire him.

Why not sit back for a bit and allow it time to develop without creating toxic pressure?

I don't know, just made a note on the In or Out poll of the total votes. It was at 720 went to about 680 now up to 745+ Seems yesterday's masterclass wasn't enough to force them to switch again.

I don't think anybody (cult, in, fence sitter, out, plotters) have called it that mate.

It was far from our best but we ground out the result and managed the game well. Overall we can't complain, bar a moment of madness from McCarthy.

Haha! Bunch o' whoppers.

Cack 2-0 win at bournemouth and because I've held me peace I'm fickle?? Lucky deflection and a penalty save was the difference between scraping past them. Phooey.

Now you can call me a moanin' arse instead :bye:
Thanks for coming to the table in the spirit of reconciliation.

Please can yon call out those who you have your beef with and let's settle this once and for all.

The thing is, we've won four of the last five (and the one we lost we dominated but yeh we didn't get over the line) yet he's still being accused of not changing things, or getting lucky.

Luck plays a huge part in football and yesterday it went our way with the opener - compared to WBA where it definitely didn't.

4 clean sheets from the last five in all comps.

If we just do league, as it's then level playing field, it's 4 clean sheets in 8 and 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses from the turn of the year - which I've said before for me was when I saw the obvious shift from RM to try and be more solid while still sticking to our basic principles which see us score the goals and play the nice togger.

Obviously there's been slip ups (Swansea, WBA, that 2 minutes of madness at Chelsea) - but in terms of the goals conceded it hasn't been so much a huge fault in tactics as players switching off (McCarthy and Rom v WBA, Jags and Howard v Chelsea etc.). So that's why I say things are looking like they've changed and the facts back that up.

Litmus test is obviously gonna be Villa, hopefully we can keep up this form and hammer them.

A lot of damage has been done and there's a lot of frustration there taking the last few results away. That's why every time we lose all the same things that he's accused of keep coming back again and again.

Let's hope he can keep our little mini run going, certainly Joel in goal has made a difference and I'm glad he's had the balls to keep picking him. They are the type of decisions he has severely lacked doing in the past 18 months

Onwards and upwards though BToff, here's hoping we can kick on and have a great end to the season

Your can't make that assumption that players would want to leave if he was gone, but as I've said in the past, I'm not happy with the way we play as we are too predictable and we can't break teams down when needed to, but Martinez has one of the safest jobs in football and as long as we stay in the Prem he will have no pressure from the board.

Anyone doubting Martinez's newfound mastery of defending need only look to next weekend, where the great man has ensured another clean sheet weeks in advance by getting turfed out of the League Cup at the first sign of difficult opposition.

The same as you can't make the assumption that they are going to leave unless Martinez "bucks his ideas up".

Why sweat it? Relax and give the young team time to develop. It's the best and most sustainable strategy we have for moving up a level right now.

Predictable = league 3rd highest scorers?
