Roberto Martinez discussion

I concur with this

This whole thread has never been about hating on Martinez or demanding his head for me

It's just been about fostering an environment where reasonable debate is allowed and people aren't torn apart for simply not following the party line

GOTs content would be reduced by a huge percentage of this didn't take place. Some posters wouldn't know what to do with themselves if they had to actually propose their own opinion.

Two words

Henrik. Larrson

*Mic Drop*

Two more words: Stephen Dobbie

It's a draw lads. I can't separate you.

I thought Mikey had won it with style with the Larsson shout, but like on the streets of Philadelphia against Tommy Gunn, Ijjy comes back with one hell of a right hook with Stephen Dobbie.

It's made this paperwork bearable lads so i can only thank you.

Martinez is boss.

Roberto has to be looking at the November MOTM award, surely?

Unbeaten, two wins, two draws, 14 goals scored, securing a LC SF place. That shades Ranieri even if he has notched up one more league win.

And Lukaku has to be POTM defo.

Not sure where else to put this....

GK - Howard / Robles
LB - Baines/Garbutt/Galloway/Oviedo
CB - Jags/stones/mori/browning
RB - coleman(hibbert/young reserves)
CM - barry/besic/mccarthy/gibson/cleverley
LM - kone/mcgeady/mirallas/pienaar
AM - Barkley / naismith/ osman
RW- Deulofeu / Lennon
ST - lukaku

A-- 4 left backs. Now clearly Baines is first choice but how about the other three? I think Galloway has taken everyone by surprise and Oviedo was going to be backup whilst Garbutt was on loan BUT now i think Martinez has to decide whether Galloway will go out on loan next season or used as Baines backup for a few seasons before moving to the middle.

I wonder what happens here with Garbutt? Oviedo i think is gone.

B-- 5 centre midfielders. This for 2 positions is one too many especially if Martinez wants to create a path for Ledson...

C-- LM Pienaar will be off and McGeady it looks like as well so just two players there soon though could see a change with Mirallas.

D-- AM i imagine osman will be off at the end of the season and surely Naismith now is out of favour

E-- ST has no backup and no one coming through.

I just wanted to highlight that although its been stated many times *especially by @davek , Martinez is rebuilding the squad. For me he still has a fair way to go yet...

Theres the GK situation, the LB situation, work needed on CM and also top heavy left midfield along with lack of backup for Lukaku.

That's a potential 8 or 9 squad positions where various actions need to be taken not to mention others such as Ledson etc coming through.

I think alot of those knocking Martinez and saying that he should be doing better with this squad should bear this in mind....for me i would hope he would focus on a few this window and more in Jan but he seems to prefer gradual changes...little disruption.

With the base that he has built for the squad now he has the foundations sprinkled with stardust but still has a lot more work to do here on an unbalanced squad.

Take Mirallas and Gibson for example, people are complaining that theyre not starting but look at the number of players in their positions....just looking at the numbers its clear that someone has to miss out even as backup.

Personally i find this next stage quite exciting. Im not sure what the people who dont rate Martinez are expecting really....?
