More than possible. Also a lot against each other for selfish reasons, what's the bet that loads on here are complaining about all that the pensioners get, suddenly do a complete 180% u turn when they get to pensionable age.
More than possible.
Pensioners are as a whole not very cash rich. If they own a property then it's their home and probably been at the centre of their family life for decades. I don't think it unfair that they maintain their home and also be looked after. I know young people struggle to get on the property ladder but I'd be pointing to landlords and empty properties and insufficient investment in providing suitable housing stock before blaming pensioners.
Spot on really, also the lack of Council houses, the right to buy decimated that market.
I am a pensioner who is still working to may the mortgage, my wife who is younger also works, the mortgage will be paid this year. Both of us have worked all our lives to put this roof over our heads and to provide a reasonable retirement for ourselves. At times we have had to struggle to get through but that is life. I have some sympathy for young people I don’t think people should have to give up their homes to make things easier for them.More than possible.

It was down to racismThe red wall change was down to Boris…..
It was down to racism
I think he was serious about levelling up, I think Sunak and the CS did the usual…..
I'm curious about what evidence there is that railways help with levelling up?pete he was not serious about levelling up, as was shown by his utter lack of doing anything
There is a really useful parallel here with his time as Mayor, when he actually did save Londoners a fortune (and probably some people's lives) when he worked to and got TfL out of the god-awful PPP deal that Brown had forced on Livingstone.
Contrast that to his attitude to the railways, where not only did he have a manifesto commitment to create "Great British Railways", he also had the best opportunity to create it incredibly cheaply and without any real political opposition (when the lockdowns made the TOCs get their begging bowls out). If he'd done that he would have reaped political rewards (given how popular rail nationalization is amongst nearly all sectors of the electorate and in fulfilling a manifesto commitment), saved a lot of taxpayers money both in the short and especially the long term and dealt a far harder long term blow to the rail unions (especially the drivers) than any proposed anti-strike legislation would.
Could it reduce road transit for goods delivery? I only ask as each lorry needs a driver and fueling - both these being blamed for soaring costs of goods (though only part of the greater cash grab by producers).I'm curious about what evidence there is that railways help with levelling up?
I’m in the north east. Everyone I know who voted Conservative did so because they promised a quick Brexit. This Brexit was entirely about immigration and absolutely non of the nuances that a Telegrapgh reader was interested in.I think that’s disgraceful tbh, labelling decent northern folk as being racist just because they voted Conservative at a particular time. It’s nearly as bad as the more idiot and obnoxious posters on here using the term ‘Tory scum’. It does nothing to add to any debate and merely shows them up for their lack of intelligent conversation……

By immigration they, to a person, meant fewer foreigners in their local community
Sounds like racism to me

I'd argue that he didn't "do it" because he has a love of grand schemes that by and large fail to work (or if they do become massively over budget white elephants), when it seems that levelling up actually requires much less exciting projects that won't allow him to get PR shots in a hard hat.that wasn't the point I was making - it was that he didn't do levelling up because he CBA to
