Because our record with those sort of players - those deemed not good enough, or failures, or who have fallen out with their manager, or who play in lower leagues - is far better than it is buying "the finished article".

Or to make another point - we are an established Premier League club and our scouting network appears to extend as far as you can get on the Eurostar.

Comparisons with Liverpool are daft anyway. £50 million can buy them much much better players than the same amount can for us. Could we have signed Salah from Roma? No chance.
