Reports: Rooney to leave Everton

I dreaded Kenwright getting all sentimental and bringing him back one day as a washed-up but massive-earning has-been. He's literally been finished for over 3 seasons. Let's not forget his goals have been 3 against an absolutely horrific West Ham side (can't knock the half line effort), a few penalties and then literally a couple of other goals. So much for the natural finisher.

Thought he was gonna bang in 20 plus goals for us around xmas, but my god he's hit a wall, you can blame Allardyce and tactics and his position all you like but when you see someone who had the talent he has not being able to do the basics right it's quite sad, and ultimately annoying when he's taking up a starting role in our team.

I'm willing to beat Allardyce with any stick going, but for this one I think it's silly to do so.

Wish he had come back on a bosman before he's last United deal, and given us more memories, instead of the 'meh' ones his return has given us imo.

..I think he’s been fine. I don’t mind if he stays or goes, we have much bigger problems than somebody who has at least had a reasonable season. Saying that, we all want more energy in the side.

I’m more interested in who comes in.

As the stats showed, its only under allardyce where he's hit a wall. I would not be happy with this at all for many reasons. We can't sell our only winner. But more worryingly he doesn't like allardyce and would he want to leave if he knew that idiot will still be in charge? Its possible.

Some of you are proper mad for wanting shut of our top goalscorer for the second year in a row.
Are we though?

He's not been up to much since January and his ego demands that he have a starting spot regardless of his form.

Do you think what he's contributed since January is worth 150k a week?

If Tosun had been here all season instead do you think he'd still be the top scorer?

If Baines had been fit and took the pens instead do you think he'd still be top scorer?

The answer to all three of those questions to me is no.

I'm alright if he stays and I'm not pushing him out the door. I think he made a good contribution the first half of the season but when you look at it from January onwards there's no way you could make the argument he deserves that amount of wage or his guaranteed starting spot.

Who comes in may be limited by our wage budget and FFP. Wayne is on £150K a week by all accounts and hasn't played ninety minutes in months. For me, the economics make me want Rooney to leave. His last 5 months have also been troublesome in terms of his form with few high points to my mind. Honestly, I think it would be best for all parties if he played in the States. (I take your point on bigger problems though, Rooney is clearly committed whereas some other players only started playing in the last few games imo)

can we loan him out incaase he comes good again?!

We played him waaaaaaay too much and he's been awful the second half of the season.

I wouldn't be bothered if he stayed another season assuming he was a squad player that came on when we were chasing a goal.

Anyway. Good luck to him.

Wouldn’t get into any of the teams above us. I know that’s a dangerous and slightly lofty marker to set but you can make reasonable arguments that players such as Walcott, Pickford, Gueye etc would at least make the squads of the teams who occupy the positions we supposedly want to be on. Too slow and wasteful, lacking in tactical and mental discipline. Bit of a shambles this signing really. And however you try and dress it up we essentially traded our best player an top goal scorer for a player that was no longer wanted or required. If we’d have had a good manager or better yet a competent owner or DOF we’d have managed to secure someone like Rashford or Martial on loan as part of the deal or even signed a decent striker instead of a total has-been.

..it’s a good point about Fair Play rules.

You're jumping to a lot of conclusions there, doom mongering ones at that, if that fat prick is still here I'm going for a serious extended hibernation period next season.

Only one game left, that's my feel good attitude to it.

Do you not think his basic football skills have deteriorated in the past couple of months, I certainly do, I think he might not even be able to cut it in MLS/China now, ala, Slippy over the road.

I just think he shouldn't be playing every game tbh. I said when we bought him I'd be happy with him being a rotation player but shouldn't be playing every game. I still think allardyce will go, was just asking the question as to why Rooney would want to leave to go somewhere like that.

The way I see it if we get to a cup final for example, who on earth do we look too under pressure? There's more to a footballer than what he produces on the pitch and I think we have so many squad players to sell already without shipping off our top scorer.
