You’re adding the caveat now that With injuries or needs must as you put it. But there’s never ever a scenario where Gomes needs to play if we have 2 other midfielders available.

I would be scouring the free agent market for a centre back who is not attached to a club. Could really do with an old fashioned, dogged leader back there. A bit like when we re signed stubbs after he left Sunderland. Not sure if that's allowed at this stage of the season though is it?

I want to see a reaction from the players whatever happens. We need to see them play like they recognise the situation. We saw that against Leeds, then saw the complete opposite last week with no fight and desperation to win.

I can't see anything but a loss but a more improved and valiant effort regardless.

Just think them losing to Spurs gives the football god's the leverage for them to get a result.

Quite likely City will beat us, if the Toons and Burnley win, we will be 18th in the RL.
