The story is now being run on Teamtalk quoting , a presumably , Brazilian publication called Globo Esporte.
I think that there may be some truth to this interest.
Whether it happens is another matter.

Spotwitness quoted the same source a few hours ago mate

So is it too soon to think of
Kean
Richy Reinier Pepe

as our front four in a year or two? (Once Gylfi decides it time to pass the baton :) )

I know Brands is interested in young talent for the future but i would be surprised if there was any truth to this tbh. Investing 30 odd million or whatever the cost is on a talented young lad who cannot even sign till next year and even then will have permit problems when we have just 3 weeks left and far much more important priorities needed to get us ready for the start of this season.

Nah.

Article for this who missed it, supposed to be a good source in Brazil. Rough translation -

Besides getting Gerson and Pablo Marí, and the negotiation with Filipe Luis, the duo Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel, directors of Flamengo, had another mission during their period in Europe. Before going to Spain to talk to the left-back, they went to England to learn of an offer from Everton for Reinier, 17 years old and wonderkid from the youth squad.

Negotiations developed, and Richarlison's club became a real possibility for Reinier, although other clubs like Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Manchester City also showed interest.

His release clause is 70 million euros (about R$ 295 million in the current quote). According to GloboEsporte.com's sources, the amount that Everton is willing to pay, including bonuses and variables, could reach 40 million euros (about R$ 168 million). Flamengo, who does not confirm the offer, has 100% of the athlete's economic rights, according to the last balance sheet.

Reinier is one of the players registered by the club in the Libertadores, even though he hasn't played with the professional team. Even if he is sold now, the midfielder would remain in the team until he turns 18, in January next year. His contract with Rubro-Negro goes until 31 December 2020. If they don't close the deal, the board intends to renew the contract until 2024 not to run the risk of losing him for free in the middle of next season.

Recovered from a knee tendonitis, Reinier is with the Brazilian U-17 team for the friendly match against Paraguay on July 23 and 26, in São Januário, broadcasted by SporTV. The matches will serve as preparation for the category's World Cup, between October 26 and November 17, in Brazil.
Let me get this straight, he is 17, never played in the first team, they want £40M and even if we shell that out he stays with them until Jan 2020, oh and Real and ManC are in for him too, plus he has knee issues, but people reckon we are genuinely after him? Wow!

Wilfried Zaha latest
Following earlier reports Everton had joined the race for Wilfried Zaha, the ECHO now understands the Blues are not interested in signing the Ivory Coast forward.

It was reported the Toffees were set to rival Arsenal in the pursuit of the 26-year-old, but this is not the case.

Brazil rising star Reinier Jesus and Portuguese Rafael Leao have also recently been linked with moves to Goodison Park.

But the ECHO again understands these rumours to be false.

Sigh. Was such a nice idea while it lasted

The Brazilian lad, not Zaha

Just noticed Leao too... so basically we’re after Kean... the only one they haven’t knocked down
