RB Leipzig

Leipzig have turned into the modern-day Hamburger SV. They regularly turn up at Bayern and immediately drop their pants.

Yeh this was likely on the cards but was hoping they could hold out. Undone by real quality but also lots of stupid passing around the back which is infuriating against opponents this good.

And Leipzig are so much better than what they've shown. Clearly, Bayern are in their heads. Living here in Germany, it's nauseating how so many teams defer to them and are beaten before they take the pitch. Don't get me wrong, Bayern is a magnificent club in so many ways, but too many of the others are far too deferential to them. Oh for another Leverkusen 2024 or, dare I say it, Dortmund under Klopp.

Every now and again Leipzig will not be scared of them and beat them but today from minute one it was just naive and inferior mentality.

Just glad it's a game to shake off early and then go try pummel the lower teams.

Ref has also been massively Bayern bias so far with fouls.

Xavi has gone, finally, glad it was Spurs and not Chelsea for him, just wish it was sooner as now the clock is ticking on a replacement. Was meant to be Harvey Elliot but seems like he's maybe too expensive now. Going into the season with two attacking mids of Baumgartner and Ouedraogo would be... bad.

RBL Transfers

This one wasn't on my bingo card for today. Linked before Romulo signed, wasn't sure another striker would come unless someone is stumping up for Openda. He's very raw but watching him for Denmark U21's you just thought "this lad could become a beast". Shoots fast and shoots hard. Follows the trend of tall, strong, left-footed Scandi strikers after Haaland and Hojlund.

Club still need a Xavi replacement though with the clock ticking - and bring me Marlon Gomes ffs.

RBL Matchday

Okay, season starts now! Last week doesn't count, it was a friendly, in my head, we move on. First home game and a visit from a tricky, physical Heidenheim team. Squad is still in whirlwind shakeup mode at the moment with Openda dropping to the bench (heavy Juventus links), Vermeeren and Geertruida both out of the squad (linked with moves away), and it's a first post-Xavi era which sees the absolute crap Baumgartner (go to Palace please) start in the 10. Heavy links with Conrad Harder this morning for Openda's swap but nothing going for an attacking mid or 6 so nervy times in East Germany. They just absolutely have to win today if they want to give the fans hope this season might be okay.

Game is LIVE from 14.30pm
