RB Leipzig

RBL Transfers

Looks like finally, after about 10 weeks, Romulo is on his way now that Sesko is gone. Fee reported is €20m + €5m which isn't bad at all really for a backup striker. Looks pretty flash on YouTube but can't say I'm ever confident about signing a striker from Turkey. Was a strong rumour that Fabio Silva (Wolves dud) was coming instead yesterday so thankfully/hopefully that was just a bit of pressure and swiftly disappears.

Just need to boot out Xavi, sign his replacement (Elliot?) and then hopefully Marlon Gomes then bosh, squad is complete.

And finalised. Looking forward to seeing what he can do but skeptical if he’ll be great.

RBL Matchday

And we're back! Well, I'm back anyway, in my 7th season I think of this thread if I can count on my fingers properly. 7 year thread, 10 years watching them, some going that for a foreign fave team. 2025/26 season officially kicks off today with the first round of the DFB Cup, and it starts with an away trip to 4th division side Sandhausen. This should, should, be a very comfortable win but who knows in German cup football as big teams go out every 5 minutes. Couple of "big" shakeups happened at the club this week with Werner deciding that the captain this season will be Raum and not Orban, as well as confirming Gulacsi as the #1 keeper which now might drive Vandervoordt to leave the club - online fans are not happy at all about this. Xavi is in the starting lineup (Chelsea need to sell to buy him) as well as wonderkid Diomande - Bakayoko drops to the bench after an indifferent pre-season so far. No squad space for new striker Romulo.

Game is LIVE from 14.30pm

1-1

Whirlwind first 5 mins. Leipzig started basically horizontal and dribbling in their sleep as Sandhausen opened the scoring, Leipzig then thought they equalised a minute later but Openda was offside, then they finally did equalise through Diomande. Goals galore ensues!

2-2 HT

Completely dominant display (74% possession, 14 shots) but not a dominant scoreline due to quite frankly arrogant defending from Leipzig. Some players out there need to stop thinking this is going to be really easy. Hopefully this boots a couple out of the first XI who shouldn't be there (Bake/Seiwald).

3-2 [78']

Leipzig finally take the lead after obliterating them the whole second half. Out of all the fancy footwork the goal comes from a long punt up field and Banzuzi (absolute tank) just destroys the keeper whilst heading in. No VAR, no problem.

RBL Matchday

Bundesliga is back and cheers fixture generator for starting it off in the worst way humanly possible with an away trip to Bayern on a Friday night. Not a result that will define the season but a humping here doesn't really look good when you're trying to start a new "era" at the club. Bayern have had a fairly quiet transfer window; with only the expensive addition of Luis Diaz to add to Jonathan Tah but I'd say they still have the strongest starting XI in the league when Kane and Olise are fit. On RB's side, it's likely the final time we'll see Xavi in a Leipzig shirt with his move to Chelsea expected to proceed after this game, we're also seeing a start for Diomande who I am SO excited to watch this season. Be happy with a draw but expecting defeat just with the amount of chances the Bulls will give up.

Game is LIVE from 19.30pm and shown... pretty much everywhere actually. Get yourself on the game if you cba with the PL. (Links below)
