RANGERS

By who though, the poppy is not welcome at parkhead, most clubs in england, scotland and northern ireland have no problem with it, rangers welcome the armed forces on the pitch at ibrox as do everton at goodison mate
Celtic wear a poppy. All clubs do these days. Why I dont know. It never used to be like this. Like it or not, this poppy era in football is just being used as a means to beat people about the head with and calling them out for not being as jingoistic as they are.

What I have to laugh at is that the fellers who fought in the last war and stood on the terraces at Goodison and elsewhere in the 40s, 50s, 60s, would never have dreamed of wearing one. They'd have seen what I see: a devaluation of human conflict and the carnage it brings by making the circus that is football its prime cheerleader. They'd have seen it, in other words, as inappropriate. And they'd have reacted to minute's silences with a cry of "just get on with 'kin game".

It's an insult to those who died or were maimed in war to have this hyper-inflated, money crazed industry to the fore in remembering millions of dead. I detest this part of the season with all the poppy fascism that takes place.

Oh, and those soldiers at Ibrox were walking about playing imaginary flutes to the adoring bunch of bigots watching them...."lest we forget".

ever since James Mclean decided not to wear one and the hatred hes had since ive decided against it, trying to force someone to do something is surely against what people fought for in those conflicts.

find the whole thing a sorry state of affairs now

Last November I detected a weariness with it all.

It's just not right, IMO. It devalues the whole thing. I mean, how in the world can it be dignified when you have clubs with some 'kin idiot in a mascot uniform bowing their heads in "solemnity"? Look at the 'kin state of this and tell me it's a fitting tribute to somene losing their life:

WTaF?!?!

It's a grotesque joke having football leading the way on this. It has to stop.

your talking crap as usual

Changing the subject, the league cup semi final fiasco continues, tickets issued for the Hampden semi final still have the old time of a noon kick off on them instead of the revised time of 1630hrs.
Will there be any dafties still turning up at noon? It is Aberdeen and Rangers we're talking about here ;).

As someone who goes to most games i have to say he is, though i dont know how much is down to mcallister

He’s definitely moved them on from the last couple of managers but I think even our last couple of failures could have done that , that was an absolutely minimum.

I watched the Hamilton game in the pub before our last game with rest interest because I had a few bob on it but I have to say I wasn’t particularly impressed. That’s what I mean really I struggle to put some of the performances together , some of the SPFL stuff has been a bit average .
