To me it isnt sectarian, nor is fenian but both words are now used in a sectarian way in ireland and scotland
How do you use a completely non sectarian word in a sectarian way? Did the The Rangers supporters stop calling Celtic supporters Huns because it was sectarian? Why do Celtic supporters call The Rangers Huns? If it's because of the The Rangers support for the royal family I still don't get the sectarian element? Surely it's a 'German' issue? I'm not interested in the use of the 'fenian' word so I'll not make further reference to it.

So, when (apart from when he's been getting sectarian abuse from those extremely notorious bigots at Ibrox) has he been calling The Rangers fans Orange B*stards? I've asked this of a number of The Rangers fans and they always seem to dodge the question. Cheers

Where are these "notorious bigots" at Ibrox, that's quite an odd statement to make and why do you think he gets sectarian abuse ? can you give me any examples or are you just making things up.

He called a Rangers fan an "Orange ba*tard" in Ashton Lane a few years ago and he was knocked unconscious and soiled his cacks.

I cant answer that, but in scotland and northern ireland hun is a derogatory name for protestants and members of the unionist community in ni

'Notorious bigots' at Ibrox. Where to start! I am under the impression that Rangers signed less than a double figure number of Catholic players in the fifty year period prior to the signing of Mo Johnston in 1989? You may correct me on that. Danny McGrain was overlooked by Rangers, and instead signed by Celtic, because they thought his name denoted that he was not Protestant. Rangers fans running amok in Barcelona calling bemused Spaniards fenian b****rds before and after a European game. The Southall testimonial when they went up and down County Road calling women with prams fenian b*tches. 99 arrests that night. Shelbourne v Rangers was played at Tranmere instead of Dublin because of fears about what havoc the teddy bears would wreak in Dublin. Instead, they caused havoc around here instead.
Enough of that (and there are many more examples of Rangers fans being sectarian). You have provided a second example of Lennon calling someone an orange b*stard. We now have two examples of him using that phrase. Not exactly overwhelming proof of bigotry I suppose, but fair enough, he doesn't lie down when provoked. Take a stroll through YouTube to the game where he used that term and listen to the songs that the Rangers fans were singing? lots of mentions of wading in blood and all that. Notorious? I think so.

It cannot, cannot be sectarian though can it? It may be a snide way to describe the opposition, ie we call the RS the RS, but that's it - name calling.

Jesus Wept, where to start with this nonsense.

Rangers has RC players long before Maurice Johnston, Look up John Spencer, Hugh O'Neil, Don Kitchenbrand etc.

Rangers were started by 4 young lads because of their love of football. Celtic were formed as a RC club for the sole benefit of RCs.

Danny McGrain wasn't overlooked by Rangers because of his name, more nonsense.

Rangers fans invaded the pitch in Barcelona because they thought the game was over, The Spanish Police baton charged the Rangers fans and the Rangers fans fought back, They didn't "run amok" in Barcelona and how do you know what they were calling Spanish people?

Next you'll be telling me that all English clubs are angels, you better let Andy Nicholls know.

We have already established the fact that "Fenian" isn't a sectarian term because it is not and never will be a religion. so epic fail on your part again I'm afraid.

There have been many Northern Ireland Roman Catholics who have played and managed in Scotland, none of them encountered any of the treatment Lennon received or brought on himself, so that blows that theory out of the water, He is a horrible person and he is disliked my most fans in Scotland.

Is this thread about Rangers or Neil Lennon?
You said to a poster "You obviously don't know about Neil Lennon kid". Turns out you don't know much about him yourself. That was why we discussed him. Anyway, happy to talk about The Rangers again at any point. My brother in law supports (supported) them which is why I keep an eye on the fun and games up north. That, and it's a much more honest league than the Barry White down here.

Give me ten players names who played for Rangers first team who were Catholic in the 50 year period prior to Johnston's signing?

You need to read that one up lad. Seriously, you do!

He was.

It was in the nineties, and I was in the city that week.

No English clubs are angels. Neither are they sectarian.

I did not use the term fenian whilst illustrating my point. I accept that the word fenian is exactly the same as the word Hun, in that people can choose to take offence if they so wish. Hun is not sectarian and neither is fenian. Hardly epic, but whatever you say.

Sorry, read my replies within the quotes for the last one there.....

Do they still argue about churches then?
