Latest rumours are the Rail companies are going to announce
Wholesale station closures next Wednesday.
The government has told the TOC to do so they have to take the flack.
They have also moved the goalposts for public consultation to keep any station open.
Final say goes to the transport secretary for final decision anyway if any jump through the hoops that are placed in the way.
Talk about a forgone conclusion.

There has been a fundamental corruption of why we, the people, elect governments in my lifetime. That the right choose to starve essential services from society in favour of private wealth generation is one thing, but when even opposition parties fail to uphold the provision of right to travel, to information, to healthcare, to education, to meaningful employment...

Privatisation hasn't worked. It's not going to work. Post office, telecom, railway, if your government feels they can not or should not run them then they are not worth your vote.

The strike on the 26th has scuppered part of my plans for that weekend, but just going to jump a coach anyway

Met Mick Lynch in town a few weeks back watching the footy, so keep on keeping on
We will.
But it looks like it's s done deal.
Saying that the public are shocked what is really going to happen.
The get the staff from behind the glass propaganda , the staff will still be outside basically tory lies.
In reality is station booking office will be completely shut for ever at the vast majority of stations.
A member of staff , only the platform for 2 hours a day, 12 hours a week
some have more the most I have seen is 6 hours ,the majority not even at peak times.,
that incudes major stations Manchester picc. DURHAM ect.
the staff will be expected to clean up ,put posters up.
God help anybody with any problems turns up at the station outside of that.
in reality the staff at rhe small stations will get moved to cover at the bigger stations so that means no staff at all at some locations.
The ticket machines dont do the full selection of ticket's so you would have to go to a main station to get those, Thats even if people understand what they are buying,
you would be surprised how many people buy the wrong ticket.
The staff levels I'm are area are 480 staff, currently , down to 220 of which 80 are part time.
Even if you stay it's a big cut in wages.
The voluntary redundancy is crap works out less than a thousand for a year's service.
Anybody started in the last few years basically goes for nothing up to 5 yrs £4000.
So it's on we go.

Fight these bastards with everything you have.

Trying to mate.
Shocking the way the treated the staff , god help the younger ones with kids ect..
Even if the get a job it's basically a £600 a month drop in wages.
I am fighting it out.
I was LDC for guards when they tried for our Christmas and Boxing Day. They lie and scheme at every stage.

They know you know and they still sleep at night. Rats, all of them.

I spy trouble at stations when some sections of society realise no one is cleaning the crud off the cameras that are the last line of vigilance. End up like that subway scene in 'the warriors'.

That's if the have cameras mate.
If you ever go those control rooms .The people in there have banks of screens. The fellas would have to have eyes like a blue bottle to take every screen in.
it would have to be a good bit of luck to catch anything.
And anyway they can film all they want, no staff there, your waiting for the cops to show up
Basically after the damage is done.

I remember one day years ago where England were playing a WC game on a Sunday afternoon (an overtime day). all the trains got cancelled apart from one at 1am so I had to hang over for hours, it's madness

My problem is the services seemingly rely on people working overtime at eye watering rates and them being able to withdraw their labour at will.

They need to be contracted to work weekends, it's ridiculous that a service runs 7 days a week without the expectancy that it's employees work to it's requirements.
