Could be worse :

We were taking the mother-in-law to Paris as it's been her dream since she was a kid. She was due to fly tomorrow and it seems quite likely that her flight has been cancelled due to strikes. Absolutely gutted. She's been like a kid on Christmas eve for weeks now.
Such a shame that your MIL has been disappointed, but probably it's no bad thing to be avoiding Paris at present. Much anger around and it can't be very comfortable for residents and visitors alike.

Rmt Rail strike called 13 may.
Moved the goalposts on the deal,
Put loads more conditions on the table,
As the union were getting feedback from it's members as to go forwards with it.
Looks like the government has put its oar in again.
As I have said all along this isn't a pay dispute its political by this government.

The problem is the government has decided it is going to cover all the costs for these strikes with public money. I don't think that should be allowed. Employers should have to deal with their employees, but it's hard to see a way where the union wins here. Difficult times for the railway workers still on strike who the government is clearly gunning for.

Balancing out my bad luck on events I had tickets for last year by the strikes missing all three times I need trains within a week, despite two of their strike days being that week

Transpenine taken back under the government this morning, yet another one
Transpennine has been unbelievably poor the last couple of years - just an occasional user and it was usually bolloxed, would be horrendous if you were relying on it day in day out.

Do you know why it went down the tubes? Seemed like a pretty solid service before lockdown.
