I just checked, there are rooms.available. So what do they mean by "we want ARE hotel back"?

If you read the comments below the tweet, local residents are saying that the town relies on tourism from Drayton Manor and so on and they've been raising concerns for over a year about it

They live there. It's unreasonable to think that they cannot raise their issues via their MP to Parliament and the Government

Totally unreasonable. Some of the people in this thread need to think about what they're saying.

I didn't say that we can't talk about difficult issues or that MPs can't raise them. I said she couldn't chosen her wording in a less divisive way. She could have made her point about hotels in her constituency being used to house migrants, clearing the backlog, whatever, without using rhetoric which panders to racists.

You did and you're doing what that twitter poster "George Aylett" is doing and trying to shame her over what she said in Parliament

Which is her literal: job. To represent her constituents

The fact she was raising it in Parliament as an issue should be a warning flag to people of issues in that community.

Trying to silence people's voices is a recipe for disaster

When did I say we can't talk about difficult issues? You're making things up there.

I get what you’re saying about a councillor’s job but at the end of the day mate the public are idiots. There’s plenty of hotels in the area people can stay at. One former hotel turned into an asylum center isn’t damaging the tourism in the area or tourists ability to find a room for the night. Nobody is not going to Tamworth because they wanted to stay in a Holiday Inn and it’s not available

I don't have twitter so couldn't read the comments. Isn't the Holiday inn a private company that are concerned primarily with making a.profit for their shareholders? Why would they expect an MP to decide who can and can't have a room?

i.e. you're giving the rioters credibility and people like Tommy Robinson, because you're literally trying to silence - Labour MP that is representing her constituents

Clearly there are issues in Tamworth and have been a long time.

She's not a councillor she's a Member of Parliament.

People and this Seanjd is doing the usual. When people don't want to hear something and particularly the truth they try and silence it.

The truth needs airing. We've literally had civil wars in this country over parliamentary representation and lack thereof, in the House of Commons. Shouldn't be taken for granted and understand what it is there for.

The idea you seem to think that we can't talk about difficult issues or that MPs can't raise them is a nonsense one.

It's trying to silence actual democracy and its not the way things should be.

Your just letting your sensibilities be offended because you don't want to address difficult topics.

You're being ridiculous if you think MPs can't raise things in Parliament that concerns their constituents. Absolutely ridiculous. You will create more problems and undermine our entire democracy with your thinking.
He isn't saying they can't raise issues just that they should think about how they convey it. Her choices of words there could have been better.

Well we don't get to tell people how they should speak.

That is up for them. I think she's merely conveying what she's been getting told by constituents.

I think it is disgraceful she's being criticised now for merely doing what she's been elected to do as an MP.

What is the alternative? What we are seeing on the streets now?

So the locals that are torching the place showing great intelligence are the people your trusting as the source for the impact on the local economy?

You’re talking about giving credibility to Tommy Robinson like it’s an infringement on free speech. Hate speech and freedom of speech aren’t the same thing. People need to get that through their heads. It’s more then legal to censor people breaking the laws around inciting racial violence

I'm not giving rioters and right wing thugs credibility and to suggest so isn't fair.

I said that I believe the MP could've made exactly the point she made without using phrasing you'd expect from the likes of Farage (they want their hotel back). That kind of language sticks; as we've seen with the 'stop the boats' chanting. That isn't silencing. That isn't being afraid of talking about immigration. That's expecting more from our MP's.
