Exact same with Rising Damp, with Philip and Rigsby.

Thats still being shown today. I saw an episode a few weeks ago where Rigsby was waving his hands in the air talking about the beat of the jungle drums.

Interestingly the the actor who played phillip defended the show for that very reason. How bigoted Rigsby was. I fully get that. But i also think a few slipped through the net who never.
There may or may not be anything in it. Little Britain came along much later and probably tried to portray the same level of ignorance. Without the comedy imo. Watched it once or twice and thought it just wasnt funny.

The writing in Rising Damp was way ahead of Little Britain ( I appreciate they were two different formats )

Rigsby was this seedy, unkempt, bigoted, horrible little man, whilst Philip was educated, articulate and handsome.

Then to put the cherry on the cake, the love of Rigsby’s life, Miss Jones was obsessed with Philip.

You didn’t laugh with Rigsby, you laughed at him.

Way ahead of its time.

It was brilliantly written. I dont think it would have worked without the casting of leonard rossiter though. If ever anyone was perfect for a role.

Little Britain easily makes my top three things that people in the UK went mad for that I just couldn't see the appeal of.

There was a real "punching down" aspect to a lot of it, lazy writing and it couldn't hold a torch to say, The Fast Show, for that punchline, catchphrase whatever you call it sign off.

Always a nasty smugness to it.

I thought its audience target was for brain dead idiots myself. Ive never got david walliams.

Keep seeing comments on social media about the Manchester airport police attack and how the men who assaulted the police woman haven’t been arrested as an example of this two tier policing etc. (apparently making it ok to trash the streets and attack people).

Despite the fact they were arrested and released on bail while the investigation is ongoing. The investigation is going to take time because they have also been trying to do the investigations into the police officers alongside it.

Close to deleting all my remaining social media as I’m getting a bit sick of peoples ignorance.

It was dump. The same couple of jokes repeated ad nauseum over three series or whatever it was.
