I could be wrong but I don't think any historically planned left wing protests have involved shop, offices, and hotels being boarded and cordoned off and people forced to stay at home due to threat of violence.

If they did...shut that down too.

Whatever political side you're on...if you're on a platform planning to smash something up or threaten peoples lives based on ideological views it needs closing, banning, and put in line IMO.

The same energy is not being applied to islamophobia. In fact, those who raise it are being dismissed.

If you spoke about climate action you had to condemn the actions of those taking part before you could discuss climate change.

My missus told me one of her work colleagues that wears a hijab has been too afraid to wear it in public the last week and has taken it off!!

I hope her colleagues are defending her and supporting to wear . How can people be annoyed with a person’s choice to display modesty?

It’s no different to a bloody nun, but they’d all be foaming at the mouth if someone suggested they couldn’t dress in a specific way.

I don't. I just personally think there comes a time when strict powers are called for. It's always the abuse of that power is where it becomes a right to challenge.

The hair covering oppresses women so should be banned is one of the more annoying ones, certainly. Watch any film from the 40s, 50s or even 60s and most people are wearing a hat or a shawl; go into any Catholic Church for a Mass and you’ll see women veiled or in a shawl during the service as well.

Mate, it's primarily a choice too, regardless of what the knuckle draggers may be told or what they think is the truth.

I know some Muslim women who do wear them, and talk passionately about why it’s important to them. Do they feel forced? No.

Likewise, I know a number of Muslim women who don’t wear them, and they certainly don’t feel obliged. Mainly it’s their heritage that decides.

And if we boil down to whether their religion shouldn’t enforce it? Christianity tells me to do many things, and not to do others. Do I follow it all?

No, because I’m a human and make a choice. I see no difference here. I’m more worried about cost of living than dross like this.
