Whenever there is an outbreak of unrestrained, unhindered and uninhibited pride in the exploits of our national team, there tends to be a counter movement, which sneers and chastises those who have allowed emotions to take over. That is their loss.
Like the person who goes to a night club and stands, sipping water, assessing the rhythmic ability of those on the dancefloor rather than jumping into the middle of it and joining in, they are so determined to remain detached they forget to enjoy themselves.
But if you cannot enjoy this, then you must ask yourself what is the point? If you can’t get excited by England reaching their first World Cup semi-final for 28 years, English football will never make you happy. You may as well give up.
Nope, I enjoy it because Jordan Pickford is there. Nothing else. I'm not patriotic, I was born in England, I genuinely like the English. But I also deep down, genuinely think that the majority of the English, hate the Scousers or people from Liverpool. So what? That's how I feel because I find it true, in everywhere I look..
Is it because the shower of beauts we share a city with. Maybe some of it is. But I still admittedly share common ground with these people..
You only have to look in comment sections of newspaper articles about Everton FC fans, Liverpool FC fans or Scousers.
It's literally littered with absolute C**rs talking utter nonsense with pure malice.
Then they try and peddle the 'its only banter, scousers can't take a joke'
Poverty, people going the match, government cover ups, managed decline etc etc.. us never EVER funny.
When you hear the utter bull of a lot of the country being so anti Liverpool. It's really hard to get behind fully.
My reasoning to summarise is, it's really difficult to get behind a team/establishment/country who for some unbeknown (to me) reason is pure dislike towards your home (Liverpool).
Any comment section of anywhere, where Liverpool (clubs or city) just the city of Liverpool is involved. It's literally bile, absolute bile. Unfounded bile btw. Like we're the only city in England with problems..
Truth be told, I may be in a minority of Scousers who do brush it off.
Dunno, I can't?
Genuinely think it's disgusting.
