Whenever there is an outbreak of unrestrained, unhindered and uninhibited pride in the exploits of our national team, there tends to be a counter movement, which sneers and chastises those who have allowed emotions to take over. That is their loss.

Like the person who goes to a night club and stands, sipping water, assessing the rhythmic ability of those on the dancefloor rather than jumping into the middle of it and joining in, they are so determined to remain detached they forget to enjoy themselves.

But if you cannot enjoy this, then you must ask yourself what is the point? If you can’t get excited by England reaching their first World Cup semi-final for 28 years, English football will never make you happy. You may as well give up.
Davek likes this....lollollol

I thought cesc spoke very well, you could see the intelligent centre mid there. Like yourself I like seeing a new face with different perspective. Can't remember which world cup but when they had leonardo on he was great, and a beautiful head of hair
Cesc is brilliant. Devoid of banter and cliches, tactical analysis.

"Golden generation" put to pasture and suddenly England look like a team that give a damn and not a collection of prima donnas.
Coincidence I'm sure.
Yeah, if they get beaten next game, I’m NEA, but even so, it’s refreshing to see an England team winning and that I don’t hate that much. I haven’t really watched England in an attached way since 2004, when the media and then-England squad made sure we sold the star of the tournament to United. But this lot, they’re not as offensive as previous incarnations, and I’m reasonably pleased for them. Also have to say that Southgate has impressed me as the boss. Not quite on the bandwagon at this point, but they are far less objectionable than the so-called Golden Generation.

Hey this sounds like communism.

Nope, I enjoy it because Jordan Pickford is there. Nothing else. I'm not patriotic, I was born in England, I genuinely like the English. But I also deep down, genuinely think that the majority of the English, hate the Scousers or people from Liverpool. So what? That's how I feel because I find it true, in everywhere I look..

Is it because the shower of beauts we share a city with. Maybe some of it is. But I still admittedly share common ground with these people..
You only have to look in comment sections of newspaper articles about Everton FC fans, Liverpool FC fans or Scousers.
It's literally littered with absolute C**rs talking utter nonsense with pure malice.
Then they try and peddle the 'its only banter, scousers can't take a joke'

Poverty, people going the match, government cover ups, managed decline etc etc.. us never EVER funny.

When you hear the utter bull of a lot of the country being so anti Liverpool. It's really hard to get behind fully.

My reasoning to summarise is, it's really difficult to get behind a team/establishment/country who for some unbeknown (to me) reason is pure dislike towards your home (Liverpool).
Any comment section of anywhere, where Liverpool (clubs or city) just the city of Liverpool is involved. It's literally bile, absolute bile. Unfounded bile btw. Like we're the only city in England with problems..

Truth be told, I may be in a minority of Scousers who do brush it off.
Dunno, I can't?
Genuinely think it's disgusting.

Said at the start that i'd be absolutely made up if England did well.

I can't say i'm too fussed about England, but i've really been behind what Southgate is trying to do, and the ethos and team spirit he's been building up from U-21 to now with the senior squad. A lot of people have written him off because he didn't have badges at Boro or because he took them down, but he's basically went about it his own way, and yes, he's got some luck with avoiding Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Portugal etc who were all knocked out before they reached England, but you have to beat what's infront of you, and now England stand 90 mins away from a World Cup Final, and on paper, you fancy the Croatia game to be tasty. You really have to hope Alli turns up for this one.

Good on you Gareth, no one gave you a chance.

Grub Street at it's finest.
