Can't you just bask in the moment? I'm going to have my first nervous flight on Wednesday because we land at Heraklion after the semi final kick off. I'm just looking forward to finding a bar before the end of the fame. I can't be doing with negative talk.
Crete holds some very special memories for me.
Btw, it's the fifth largest island (by area) in the Mediterranean (after Sicily, Sardinia, Cyprus, Corsica )

For the record that was not aimed at you at all. For me Sweden were leading a bit of a charmed life.

Put it this way. If this match was Switzerland/England I would not have had the same level of confidence.

The stars have aligned quite nicely for England. If they get Russia in the semifinal I will have the same confidence. If it's Croatia it's definitely more of a coin flip.
Oh yeah I know, just quoted you in cuz it's the discussion we had like. Never read it as a dig fwiw.

Going totally against the blinkered viewpoint in here, bar not scoring, I think Sterling put in a good shift for the team. For the sake of the teams future progress, the lad desperately needs a goal.

His pressing was good and took the hard graft off Kane who played more of a number 10 for large parts, very clever. Still should have scored, however, those are the matches you miss goals when you win 2 nil!

Sweden didn’t turn up. Poor WC this.

OR (copy and paste job but )

It's not at all hard to make a case that this WC is as good as most here have posted and even possibly why they have, not every match has been top entertainment and perhaps the very worst being the France vs Denmark meaningless draw. There may have been boring games and no matter the heights it reaches you inevitably won't please everyone.

Even i can name some undoubted highlights very quickly though,

Spain and Portugal's 3-3 thriller,

Spain and Morocco's 2-2 and dramatic last minute drama,

Croatia's 3-0 hammering Argentina,

The excitement of Germany's shock loss to Mexico and eventual elimination,

Argentina and Rojo's cruel late blow for Nigerian hopes

South Korea's shock humiliation of Germany,

The agony for Senegal of losing out to Japan over the fair play tiebreaker

Arguably the match of the tournament knockout phase France's 4-3 triumph over Argentina

Uruguay's clinical finishing on the platform of a solid defence proving too much for Portugal,

The shock of Spain going out on penalties to the brave and unfancied hosts Russia

Belgium's remarkable late comeback when it had looked as though the Japanese might cause another giant upset.

More penalty shootout sudden death drama with Croatia beating a valiant Denmark and England beating Colombia despite a last minute leveller.

Frances professional win over Uruguay

Belgium's classic win over favourites Brazil

And England proving far too good for Sweden

Harry Kane's coming of age at the World's premier national team tournament and JORDAN PICKFORD

Huge shocks, high drama, last minute twists and some truly exceptional football matches

More goals on average than any previous world cup, more correct decisions from the officials and such an open draw playing out with Spain, Germany, Argentina and Portugal, Brazil out.

With the mouthwatering prospect of France and Belgium and England vs Russia/Croatia, I can't wait.

Its just probably setting a new higher standard that future World Cup's might possibly struggle to even get near.

But yes, other than all that its been dreadful.

I’m still not convinced by England. It might be an unpopular opinion but I don’t care. I think defensively we are better in the oppositions box than our own and I worry when players run at us. Southgate also needs to show some balls and drop a “big name” like Alli and Sterling because we have better options in the team.

I think this will be our undoing.
I’m sure that everyone on here agrees with your comments but I’m just enjoying this unexpected run.
