my spelling has gone downhill since being on here, the amount of edits i do because of a spelling mistake is unreal, i find myself reading through it and questioning correct spellings because of the amount of bad ones i see on here.

Also, many people (including myself) mistakenly use 'amount' when it would be best to say 'number'. For example, in your post you say "...the amount of edits..." when it would be best to say "...the number of edits...".

To remember this, use 'amount' when referring to things that cannot be counted, and 'number' when referring to things that can be counted.

The amount of water in the bath vs. The number of water in the bath.
