Press Conference Improvement

Football is so oversaturated from a media point of view I'm not sure what else we can expect
Agreed. And most coverage is speculation, guessing, hyperbole, or absolute bubbles. It could be an opportunity to actually state some news though, like explain team selection etc.

what??
First of all, it's all for the fans, that's what the business is.
If they insist on broadcasting live, they should do it properly.
There's a lot about US sport that drives me nuts but pre game hype is always professional.
It's almost as if they get that there's a huge audience watching and they need to present themselves professionally while milking it for as much ad revenue as possible.
This is definitely something Everton could do better, way better.

I'm not sure I agree it's way down. One of our main commercial / business priorities should be how we look around the world. There are loads of 'new fans' coming up all the time, and there must be some at least who don't just want to jump on the Man City, Chelsea bandwagon, or even if they are looking for historically successful clubs go for LFC, MUFC and Arsenal...There must be some out there who might want to follow a club which is trying to grow, punch above its weight, is a 'smaller club' etc. ..If we can do anything to get ahead of this, by promoting ourselves well it's worth it/ It is linked to how we use people like Cahill, Howard and Pienaar as ambassadors (if we do) and it is also linked to how successful we might be in attracting sponsorship in the future. All of it matters I think! And, it wouldn't need much money, just a change in the way we present them, that's all. You can literally improve it next week.

Oops was agreeing with you disagreeing with @ijjysmith and just joining in your discussion

So you are just accepting them.

What a waste of everyone’s time.
It's an internet forum.
If we didn't bother moaning about things, we'd be fighting relegation under Roberto while wearing a cartoon crest.
I work in video production and every time I see the live broadcast, I wonder if those standards are throughout the club.
It looks like, with the move to the Liver Building, things have become more professional.
It's reasonable to point out that this hasn't
It's not Ipswich ;)

Just a weird thing to fume about for me.

It’s a press conference. For the press.

"There's bigger priorities" etc.

It's not like improving audio on routine, essential comms is on the same agenda as winning a trophy...

The club need to improve the audio, there's been times there's the audio hasn't worked at all.

Just a weird thing to fume about for me.

Disagree.

Sure, the press ask the questions.

But it's routine, expected comms - streamed to fans.

The club put it out to millions on social media, promote it on their Facebook page, Twitter etc, stream if on such channels and have done since around 2012/13.

If you go on Everton's website now, the press conference will be used to build/create a number of stories, like so;

I see both sides.

Whilst I agree with Ijj regarding we have bigger issues, it really is an issue, the press conferences are watched all over the world and its honestly a joke how bad they are. Its not even rocket science, 12 year olds manage to stream themselves playing games and here we have a multi million pound company that cant even fit a mic properly.

Aside from the issues of sound quality etc, I think press conferences are a bit difficult for the club to do well.

In the modern era, they are geared entirely towards the bigger clubs where they are seen as media set-piece occasions.

I mean, Klopp can't open his mouth without it being copied everywhere, but for us its just something the manager has to do.

It's difficult, a relatively sparsely attended event for us packed with media-induced clichés due to their stupid, banal questions.

I do like Man City's innovation of a video board behind Guardiola, coupled with better lighting.

You can improve lighting, sound etc but at the end of the day its just soundbytes.

If that's the case, don't bother live streaming it.
If you are going to live stream it, do it properly.

The other thing about priorities, is that it's a totally different department working on this stuff. So if we work on the commercial side, press releases, marketing, videos etc, it's not going to eat into training time. It's not Brands and Silva who are going to be working on it!?

So We can 100% have business and football priorities running simultaneously, and especially if we are 3 years away from a new stadium, we have to get both playing and commercial standards in place so that we don't have Sky and TalkSport and similar idiotic media patronising us when we move.

Why don’t the idiots running the press conference have the brains to stick microphones above the press so we can actually hear the questions being asked?
