Press Conference Improvement

The importance of the forumites' opinions is not in question. You said no-one cares. You were wrong, as shown by this thread & Danny's post above.

The press conferences may not be for the fans, but the videos are, therefore it would behove the club to improve the audio quality of them so that the fans can actually hear what the journalists are saying.

Again, just because we are 'lucky', in your opinion, to have the videos, doesn't mean we should accept their mediocrity.

If you don’t accept them then you must be doing something about it I take it?

I don’t even know what one of them is mate.

So you are just accepting them.

What a waste of everyone’s time.
Everyone's?? Coming from the guy adding nothing to the discussion? And generally speaking I try watching them, and if the audio is rubbish I often turn them off, ie not accepting, but rejecting.

Anyway, I see you went ahead and kept deflecting.

I’m one of the millions of Everton fans watching from around the world. I get frustrated by the way the Manager’s press conference is set up. It usually starts with the Echo Correspondent? mumbling to Marco, setting a bad example to the other questioners. It shouldn’t be a buddy-boy conversation between two people, it’s a three-way conversation involving millions of fans, many of whom are not native English speakers. Speak slowly and clearly. Deep breaths. There’s nothing wrong with a scouse accent – I love it. But just remember your worldwide audience. It’s very basic, do you really need a public speaking coach? You’re supposed to be communication professionals. And does every desk have a built-in mike? If you use a hand mike, use it professionally. And improvements in this area will give Marco confidence. His decency and sincerity are obvious. He doesn’t need to watch Obama videos, or imitate that spinmeister rogue Allardyce. And we might even attract more fans because of the quality of our communication. Respect.

I totally agree with this, and it's part of the requirement to be a legitimate, international standard business. You have to have good communication, and even if there are only 3 journalists in the room, it should look classy, be well organised and maybe even include other questions from international people or fans not in the room. Why not pioneer a new thing, where Silva takes up to 5 questions from fans. They can be filtered to be sensible ones, but challenging ones, and we can show that we are not just asking and answering q's just to go through the motions. Why not tell us about the work behind the scenes? Why not tell us about Lookman, DCL etc or the young crop? Why not tell us about progression routes to the first team? And if they are questions more suited to Brands, then he can do the press conferences too?

In any case, we do have some work to do to make our team look better - it's all part of the mission to make sure we can be a club with new fans from around the world.

I think your overstating the important of people’s opinions on this thread/forum. Hence why in the entire history of the site this is the first time it’s been mentioned.

As someone who has worked in the media a bit these are exactly what they are advertised as. Press conferences. Emphasis on the word ‘Press’.

They’re not especially for fans. They’re for the press. If it was a fan thing like their ‘behind the scenes’ videos, which I happen to think are quite good, then they would put more effort in to them.

We’re lucky we get to see the press conferences at all.
what??
First of all, it's all for the fans, that's what the business is.
If they insist on broadcasting live, they should do it properly.
There's a lot about US sport that drives me nuts but pre game hype is always professional.
It's almost as if they get that there's a huge audience watching and they need to present themselves professionally while milking it for as much ad revenue as possible.
This is definitely something Everton could do better, way better.

I’ve literally said that they’re not perfect.

But as others have said. Way way way way down the list of of things we need to improve on.

But even that rs one. It’s just questions to the manager. The sound was better than ours but as long as the journos can hear it I’m really not that arsed.

Hey it’s just my opinion that it’s not a big deal.

And agree that Everton’s videos are usually pretty good.

Although...remember the Lukaku announcement live one?! Hahhahahah

Can we see the Lukaku announcement anywhere?

Not much to moan about given the last two games and relatively positive results... I known, let's moan about the quality of the press conferences. What next? The design style of the match day programme...
