Prepare for the incoming bad press...

Goalies actually leave their near post unguarded all the time (if the didn't it would just leave the far post wide open) it't just that not many players can hit the ball with Aguero's power and accuracy.

The second goal wrong footed him as he was going the same way as the cross and it was a great header that was perfectly placed.
Think you're being more than generous there buddy you wouldn't wanna be seeing goals like that again. Far prefer to think he was a couple of % off for some reason (sniggers).

There was a reasonably weird atmosphere at the start but as the match progressed people's instincts took over and they clearly wanted an Everton win, the celebrations after the Barkley goal demonstrated that. I didn't go but that's basically what happened with me, line of thought being 'well City as a club aren't much better, liverpool will fudge it up against palace, still a chance of 4th etc'

The crowd roared for a penalty when Barkley danced into the area and Tyler just ignores it. several other incidents also disproved his theory too. I'm not sure about an agenda other than he had spent so long and placed so much emphasis on the 'strange atmosphere' that he didn't want to embarrass himself by admitting he had misjudged it.

Of course it would have been more raucous if we still had a realistic shout at top 4 but that's by the by. Compare our fans to Liverpool against Blackburn '95 and Chelsea '09, to City fans against Villa '93, Spurs against United (whenever that was) and its clear which set of fans distinguished themselves.

I couldnt go the match and watched it on laptop, sky via NOW tv. Tyler sounded totally manic the way he persistently referred to the crowd ... like when someones bevvied and they keep saying the same thing and if I was his boss at sky Id be worried. You can easily see from the still pictures after the goals, especially Barkley's, that the crowd were up on their feet. Judging by what people have said, it would appear they had lowered their crowd sound levels though only they can answer that...and that's the audio he would have picked up in his cans. Him and Neville sounded like a pair of old women and didnt come up for air in spite of him saying "Im bored" and Im glad I got shut of skysports before this season started.

Sky complaint - Just sent mine. Here it is. It ended up being a rant at Sky - Ha!

I was at the match myself but recorded the game on Sky+. I was disgusted at Mr Tyler’s repeated reference to the lack of support shown by the Everton fans (because of the potential implications to Liverpool’s title bid etc). There was just no need. Everton did their best to win the match. That can’t be questioned surely? The Everton fans celebrated as normal when Barkley and then Lukaku scored. When Naismith was thwarted by Hart (to possibly make it 2-2) there was a collective groan that we hadn’t equalised. At the end of the game there was no revelling in the fact City had gone above Liverpool etc, as the fans were concentrating on their own team (Everton not Liverpool). There have been games in the past when Liverpool had chances to scupper Manchester United’s title hopes (Liverpool v Blackburn in 1995 and Liverpool v Chelsea in 2010) when Liverpool supporters were Blackburn and Chelsea ‘fans for a day’ etc. No reference to this of course.
To mention a slightly muted atmosphere once was perhaps acceptable ‘mischief making’, but to repeatedly mention it was at best ‘unprofessional’ and at worst ‘some kind of agenda for headline making’. And to then hear Gary Neville chipping in was just ridiculous. Martin obviously drew him in to support his comments. Finally, I watched the Chelsea v Norwich game on Sunday. Chelsea, a team who before kick off had a chance to go top of the league were given ‘very weak’ support by their ‘fans’. The atmosphere was decidedly average given the circumstances. Of course no mention of it by the commentators.
It’s funny how Everton are generally given less coverage by Sky than a team such as Newcastle United whom Everton have consistently out performed over the last several years (bar one season), but when it suits Sky, their chief commentator starts making reference to the lack of passion of it’s fans, and for the “club to take a look at itself”. Pathetic.
Mr Tyler has gone down in my estimation, and he needs to listen back on his continual nonsensical comments. It smacked of bitterness (for some unknown reason).
I dread to think what Sky will do if Everton ever break the top 4 (on the budget we have). You might have to give us some credit!
I wonder what Sky will do before the start of next season when they start looking at the candidates for the title, and the Champions league places? I mean Sky first had the ‘Big 4’ (Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool). Then Man City got the ‘Sheik Mansour money’ (good luck to them), so Sky made it the Sky Super 6 (and added Tottenham to make up the ‘6’!). I mean with Everton finishing 5th and having a good go for 4th, and Man United potentially finishing 7th, how will you find a way to continually play us down? You could call it the Magnificent 7 (and that way you’ll be able to keep Man United in the frame next season – like you wouldn’t anyway) and actually give us some decent coverage, but I won’t hold my breath!

Outstanding.

Honestly, I was drunk at 11 am my time (Wisconsin, USA) for this game, for reasons unrelated to Everton. Our team gave it their all and played a good game. The fans cheered our two goals. What is there to complain about? It makes no sense how any supposedly "unbiased media" could possibly not understand that in our circumstances we wouldn't really care all that much what the result was. I wanted us to get the win, but at the end of the day we were playing a great team, and their win put a huge dent in our rival's title hopes. There is nothing even slightly unusual or original about the situation. [Poor language removed] the media.

Another point I should add was at the end of the game we all cheered and clapped the players off the pitch to the usual "Everton, Everton" chant because we knew they'd took the game right to them and if it weren't for two world class saves we'd have had a point.

It's just pure blinkered vision if you think the crowd weren't up for it. The street end was boss. Comparing it to the likes of Fulham, Swansea etc it was a boss atmosphere.

But anyway, arsed. Everton aren't we? We'll do what we want. We don't owe anyone any favours.

Cheers for the link guys, just sent this in.

Watching the game on sky I was absolutely disgusted by the repetitive slanderous comments made by Martin Tyler. Yes, the atmosphere was slightly down, but to outright state all Everton fans want to lose the match is preposterous. It seemed Tyler had an agenda, not only did he keep on talking about the Everton fans but he pushed his agenda onto Garry Neville. I wouldn't have a problem if what Tyler was saying was right, but to say the crowd was one of the reasons Everton didn't try is out of order. Did he hear the fans celebrating when Barkley scored? I'm sure Tyler wouldn't dream of making comments about clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United, but it's ok to make comments about little old Everton because no one will care.

I assure you we do care,
Yours Faithfully,
disillusioned sky customer.

I missed the commentary as was in stag in hamburg , seen most of game. Was Tyler making out fans were quiet

Can you imagine the righteous indignation that would be exploding if some of these accusations were levelled at the RS in national media outlets? There are paid football opinion formers near enough saying a premier league club threw a match, although without actually saying it, oh no. The insinuation is enough, dumb arse armchair fans will do the rest. I had a massive argument in the pub last night with an idiot whose line was "they said on Sky you just didn't turn up... They said on Sky.... They said on Sky." Finally admitted he hadn't really watched the game. Might it be right for the club to make a short statement over this? Particularity what was said on the Sky commentary re. the atmosphere.

That is exactly the prejudice we are up against and battling.

I suppose the R/S didnt celebrate when they beat Blackburn in 1995 and almost gave the title to the mancs

Look at goal celebrations at (1 min 30) (4 min 08)
