Premier League PPV

I'm a season ticket holder. I spend thousands of pounds a year following Everton.

I will get a refund for every match we can't go to this season. I also won't have associated match going costs.

I have no problem with paying extra to watch non-televised matches.

Why should I get them for free?
I did say I have no problem paying. My issue is with the price.

£14.99 is way too high.

This will inevitably end up with the scheme being abandoned or the price greatly reduced, once Sky realise that we aren't quite the cash-rich mugs that they perceive us to be.

This ^

People seem to have got a tad confused as to what this is. It’s basically all of what would have been the 3 pm Saturday games that weren’t selected for TV, made available to view via PPV.

As you say, we get our seat money refunded so why should we expect to get every game FOC on the box? It was never like this before lockdown so why are people expecting it now? Seems we’ve all been spoilt by getting every game on the box for months, but that was never going to last.

I’ve seen every Everton game this season via my existing subscriptions, that I pay for anyway, with the exception being the West Ham game that cost me £10 via the Carabao site. My seat money for the 2 home league games will be coming back to me.

I do think the price point is tone deaf like, and should be a tenner, but I don’t actually think they’ve published it have they? This seems to be a ‘leak’ and given the outcry I can see it maybe being reduced, but we’ll see.
I haven’t got any issue paying to watch games. Like I said I allready spend hundreds of pounds a year.

My issue is with the price.

My mate in New York pays $10 a month for a subscription that allows him to watch ANY premier league game.

Why not offer us the same option?

If it was club ran where all the funds went to the club's, then no one would be too fussed as you could technically say it's similar to a gate receipt.

But it's not.

Otherwise...pay for a VPN and get Bein Sport for £20 a month to get every game.

Also...the way the market is now, home entertainment is striving towards subscription based content. It's going to be over saturated that something will pop.

Breakdown all your subs in your home - Sky, BT, Netflix, Amazon, Spotify, Xbox, PlayStation etc - it's close to £100+ a month - so £1,200 a year minimum. Then add more new services (Apple, Disney etc) if you're getting nagged to get.

There'll be a point where people will just stop.

Or go to the elephant in the room.... piracy

When I saw the thread title I thought it meant Personal Protection gear to get crowds back into the grounds.

Wouldn't be a bad Idea, really and I suppose you could do it for 14 quid.

Maybe not, but I reckon people would pay for an outfit that you could wash and use again.

We would do okay compared to most clubs but what is at the moment an all across the board payment, the RS and utd it would suddenly be 10/20+ times greater. That would further lock in their monetary advantage.

Agreed those 2 would be head and shoulders Above the rest but I would be interested to see how we perform against the others. For example what the difference in buys would be if both ourselves and City played a Southampton

£15 spondooleys to watch glorified training sessions.

Imagine the atmosphere at GP atm if we went 1-0 against the Kopites - thats worth every penny.

Couldn't justify paying to watch an empty stadium with fake noise

Firmly in the no noise is better than fake noise camp

I pay 13.50 a month and I can see the games where it is just that match on. If 2 or more games start at the same time then the schedulers will show what they regard as the pick. Also get Italian/Spanish/German and French games amongst others. CL games, pay per view boxing/UFC, f1.

The only issue is the commentary is in Russian, German or any number of European/Asian languages. That doesn't bother me though.

I'm amazed anyone actually still pays for SKY Sports or BT Sports.
Just get a decent IPTV provider and you get all the games and a whole lot more.
I think I pay £55 a year for mine and its bang on (I do have a VPN as well though).
