I really don't see what the debate is about. City are cheats.
They hadn't won a trophy for 30 years and weren't likely to, same as Chelsea and then all of a sudden, crash, bang wallop an injection of cash they had never earned and then a plethora of silverware appears.
That they stopped clubs we may or may not like winning titles during that period is irrelevant.
Everything they have won since they were taken over is tainted. We all know that.
Acceptance of it is a mindset based purely on whichever agenda you choose to follow and argue.
They'll have already applied to have last years title retrospectively awarded to them...' told yis, net spend la, net spend.'lol
now do the RS
Yes, they have broken the rules, but the debate is about the actual rule itself. The official line is that it is designed to ensure clubs do not endanger their existence by spending money they don't have, the reality is that it effecfively prevents up and coming clubs from competing financially with established clubs by preventing them spending the same amount of money.I really don't see what the debate is about. Kopite dominance of world football for the next 3 years confirmed.
Nice one![]()
I guess there’s a debate to be had regarding the rules but while they exist there’s no moral argument to defend this rule breach. City knew the regulations which is why they operated cynically to circumnavigate them.Yes, they have broken the rules, but the debate is about the actual rule itself. In theory, Usmanov could sign Messi and Mbappe for us and give us 50 million to pay their wages. But FFP wouldn't allow that, so we are effectively banned from signing players of that calibre. Is that "fair play"?

Totally agree but the point I'm making is that I can't recall any drastic punishment being meted out to the Spanish legendary institution. So are Manchester City.
They are just getting it from a different state to the one in which they are domiciled.
Totally agree. If you break the rules, don't cry if you get caught.I guess there’s a debate to be had regarding the rules but while they exist there’s no moral argument to defend this rule breach. City knew the regulations which is why they operated cynically to circumnavigate them.
La Liga president Javier Tebas, “Uefa is finally taking decisive action, Enforcing the rules of financial fair play and punishing financial doping is essential for the future of football. For years we have been calling for severe action against Manchester City... we finally have a good example of action and hope to see more. Better late than never.”
*Applause.
Every trophy Abu Dhabi FC has bought is tainted. Guardiola, an honourable man, now has this stain on his record. So too did Conte at Juve, despite him personally having never done anything wrong either. Unfair or not, the association is there (Mourinho‘s jibe at Conte evidence of this).
