Has being bought out even been worth it?

Bill was a football man unlike Moshiri. It’s no surprise that things have been depressingly bad on the pitch the last 5 years with Moshiri running things.

It's not been how I hoped it would be but I still have to vote yes. Under Kenwright we would have continued to drop down the league due to lack of investment, currently we're stagnating, and that is hugely frustrating, but we haven't regressed really. Our team identity was far more of a Moyes vision than a Kenwright one and we had already seen it start to disappear under Martinez. The stadium is a huge plus and although it hasn't yet happened it is way more advanced than any other scheme we've cooked up and I'm very optimistic it will happen. Disappointed that it hasn't gone better but we'd have been royally pwned if Kenwright had stayed in charge much longer.

Why is it? First game in the new stadium, how will it help us to win the league?
The new stadium wont help us as much as some seem to think, loads of clubs have new grounds, and for the most part it did nothing to help them. Derby, Boro, Sunderland, Southampton, Stoke, Bolton, Arsenal all moved, zero progress, smaller clubs too like Hull and Reading, Brighton too. Leicester seem to have done ok but I'm not sure thats down to the ground, like wise West Ham. Arsenal for example were a top club, moved and are now pure midtable
The stadium will look great but it wont help us to win things, might bring us in more cash but we have done the throwing money at it thing recently and it did nothing.

Its not really a takeover in that Kenwright is still very much the puppet master at the club.

Nothing has changed other than he's blagged some daft sod with more money than sense to blow a load of cash whilst letting him stay on as Chairman.

Yes he may beed Moshiri to "sign off" on things but Moshiri is clueless when it comes to football - Kenwright is more than shrewd enough to be able to play him like a fiddle imo.

Moshiri needs to stay as far away from any sporting decisions. Great job behind the scenes, but Koeman/Silva/Walsh/Brands/Ancelotti have all been failures or are currently failing.

For the new stadium progression and the ability to pull carlo *who does need to get his side sorted.

Player wise. No. The players were of better quality Moyes era.

We longed for a financial takeover after years of scrounging down the back of the sofa for transfer funds. In 2016 Moshiri arrived but 5 years on has it really been worth it? Possible new stadium aside I personally preferred the club pre-takeover when we had an identity, were smarter with cash etc.

Massive misfire at the start of the reign, which sadly we're still feeling the effects of. It's a shame we've had to blow 3 years away but things are moving back in the right direction now.

As much as I liked us being prudent, it is for the best that we were taken over, if it was still Bill and co. solely at the helm, we could have been really, really left in the dust in the past 5 years.

Basically we needed Moshiri's money just to stay mid-table, don't even wanna think where we might be now if we were still bin-dipping for players.

If we look at the extra revenue it will generate, it "might" get us one middling player per season, assuming the costs of actually building it don't weigh down our finances. It's just not big enough to make a meaningful difference.

Basically yeah, it might be a sucess for some peoples bank accounts, like the Emirates has been, and Spurs place can be but for us on the pitch, a full Goodison is worth a few points a season, every team is going to love playing at Bramley Moore and wont feel as intimidated

Cant question Moshiri's commitment to the Club, but he's made some very questionable decisions in terms of who he's entrusting his money too. Steve Walsh and Ronald Koeman for example. They were here what 3yrs ago? Yet we're still suffering from their exploits.

There was clear logic to both though. I feel a bit sorry for Moshiri tbh, he’s tried everything but just can’t stop his money going down the plug hole

He tried to just buy the Leicester model, but Leicester have got that spirit and culture that we're supposed to have. Deep rooted club connected to the community, a good spirit, the right way to play and behave...
